Court documents confirmed that Michael filed for dissolution of marriage by March 13. A source told the U.S. Sun that the pair had been secretly arguing for months. A 1000-Lb. Sisters insider told the outlet that Amy wanted her boys to continue to appear on the show, but Michael was against it.

Michael doesn’t want the kids to be on the show, but Amy disagrees,” the source said.

Amy Slaton and the couple’s two sons, Gage, 2, and Glenn, 9 months, reportedly moved out of the marital home and in with her sister, Tammy Slaton, prior to Michael’s filing.

Amy says Michael is lazy and has been jealous of her attention toward the kids,” a source told The Sun in late February. “They’ve been having trouble since last year.”

Michael, 40, and Amy, 37, met in high school and eloped in 2017. The pair held a wedding ceremony in 2019 that was featured on the popular reality series.

The YouTube star gushed over her groom during the 1000-Lb. Sisters premiere episode, in January 2020.

“My husband Michael, he means the world to me. Me and Michael are newlyweds but we’ve been together four years now,” Amy said. “I can tell him anything and everything. And Michael’s really supportive of me helping Tammy.”

The duo went on to have two children together, and even considered stepping away from the reality TV spotlight to focus more attention on their children.

“If they cut down my hours, I’ll be probably fine,” Amy told The Sun in February 2022. “I like the crew most, filming can be stressful, you’re there all day and you have to say stuff over and over again. I love the relationship with the crew. But it’s stressful right now, he [Gage] needs a lot of attention.”

Michael filed for divorce seventeen days after Amy made a 911 call, alleging that her husband had become “violent” in the family home. Amy claimed that Michael began “throwing things” during an intense argument, according to the 911 dispatch document.

The couple was arguing over their breakup according to the responding officer, who arrived on the scene around 2:30 pm.

Amy wants to separate, but the male doesn’t want to,” the report stated.

On February 28, the TLC star filed an order of emergency protection, an order to surrender firearms and a protective order summons, against Michael. She amended her order of protection against her husband on March 8th, per a report by The Sun.

The outlet obtained the court docket that stated — “Amended to allow contact with children on 3/8/23. Allowed supervised contact with children, no physical discipline, supervised by mother and sister.”
