Michael Strahan’s Messy Custody Battle with Ex Jean Muggli Finally Over

Michael Strahan’s nasty custody war with his ex-wife, Jean Muggli, has been resolved. The Good Morning America host has been embroiled in a legal battle with his ex over multiple custody issues involving their 18-year-old twin daughters, Isabella and Sophia, since 2005, the year he filed for divorce.

The North Carolina custody case has been officially closed, the U.S. Sun reports. Jean lived in North Carolina with the twins before relocating to New York. The girls turned 18 in October of last year.

In 2007, Michael was ordered to pay Jean $15.3 million and $18k a month in child support, per a report by the New York Post. He also had to pay $311,150 in back child support.

Jean accused her ex of refusing to fund their daughters’ horseback riding lessons, in 2019. She noted that Michael had insisted that they remain in North Carolina to “pursue their extracurricular activities.” Three years later, Michael accused Jean of exhibiting a “pattern of abusive conduct” toward their daughters. The former NFL star alleged that his ex was physically and emotionally abusive.

Michael also accused Jean of shirking her parenting responsibilities, such as bringing the twins to court-ordered therapy sessions, volleyball games and horseback riding commitments.

The abuse allegations were later dismissed amid an agreement to share custody, Page Six reported.

The twins now attend two separate high schools in Manhattan, as Jean agreed to move to an Upper West Side apartment in NYC.

In June 2022, the pair’s hired parenting coordinator requested to be pulled from the case because the “reasonable fees of the parenting coordinator as ordered by this court had not been paid.” The coordinator dismissed her request on June 30. Court papers stated that Michael was responsible for paying 90% of the professional’s retainer and “all fees and expenses,” while Jean picked up the remaining 10%.

In 2019, the former New York Giants star accused his ex of “engaging in a pattern of conduct designed to increase unnecessarily the involvement of the parenting coordinator and to significantly increase the fees charged by the parenting coordinator.” Jean expressed concern over her ex paying for most of the parenting coordinator’s fees amid a belief that a potential “bias” could influence her decisions.

Michael currently stars on Good Morning America, where he reportedly brings in $17 million a year. He also works as a sports analyst and hosts game show, $100,000 Pyramid.
