‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton’s Abusive Husband Ordered To Turn Over His Guns
Amy Slaton’s ex-husband, Michael Halterman, has been ordered by a Kentucky court to turn over his firearms after the 1000-Lb. Sisters star accused him of violence within their marriage. Michael must surrender his firearms until the open domestic violence case has been resolved.
Court documents obtained by The U.S. Sun state that Michael Halterman must “surrender any and all firearm(s) currently in his possession to the Sheriff.”
The Sheriff’s office will maintain possession of the firearm(s) until the “required hearing is held or the action is dismissed.”
Michael will be able to recover his firearm if the court does not hand down any domestic violence order or any other restrictive order.
On February 28, the TLC star filed an order of emergency protection, an order to surrender firearms and a protective order summons, against Michael, 40.
According to the court docket—“Amended to allow contact with children on 3/8/23. Allowed supervised contact with children, no physical discipline, supervised by mother and sister.”
The reality star made a 911 call four days before filing for the order of protection, alleging that Michael had become “violent” in the family home. Amy Slaton, 35, claimed that her husband began “throwing things” during an intense argument, according to the 911 dispatch document.
Michael filed for divorce in a Kentucky court seventeen days after the incident. Amy did not take immediate legal action but did move out of the family home and in with her sister, Tammy Slaton, with her two boys.
The couple was arguing over their breakup according to the responding officer, who arrived on the scene around 2:30 pm.
“Amy wants to separate, but the male doesn’t want to,” the report stated.
Amy Slaton filed her domestic violence complaint against her husband on February 24.
She claimed— “[Michael] is mentally abusive. He’s very controlling.”
The mom of two stated—“The night of 2/24/23 he got mad that I went to take the kids with my sister to eat.”
Amy Slaton also accused Michael of being “too violent” around their two young sons, Gage and Glen.
She alleged— “When disciplining the boys he hits too hard. He pulls them by the arm.”
Amy also claimed—”[He] won’t give me money for our eight-month-old. “He makes me do everything with the house, boys, and has no job.”
On March 7, Michael denied all allegations of domestic violence, but admitted that he did have an argument with Amy’s sister “on or about” February 24.
Last week, the judge presiding over the case granted Amy Slaton and Michael Halterman “temporary joint custody” and put the pair on a parenting schedule. The “shared parenting schedule” will allow the exes to “maximize the amount of available parenting time.” Amy and Michael were ordered to stay “at least 500 feet” apart at all times and must communicate via a court supervised app.
The TLC duo was also ordered to “not make any public statements or social media postings concerning this litigation or one another.”
