Hoda Kotb rolled her eyes at her Today co-host, Jenna Hager, during Wednesday’s live show.
Hoda shadily informed Jenna that she was “living in a fantasy,” during a chat about Vanderpump Rules star, Ariana Madix’s revenge dress.
The ladies shifted their conversation to other women who have also worn revenge dresses and Jenna mentioned Barbie.
“But this is not the first revenge dress in history,” she said. “In fact, I bet Barbie invented the revenge dress when Ken- remember when Ken broke up with her for a brief period for Skipper?”
Hoda laughed and asked—”Wait, in your fantasy or real life?Is there a Barbie cartoon? Where would we know the plotline?”
Hoda rolled her eyes at Jenna as she fired off a series of questions.
Jenna asked the production crew—”Did Barbie and Ken ever break up?”
Hoda quipped—”It’s from your brain.”
One of the crew members agreed with Jenna but couldn’t respond when Hoda asked for more details.
“You don’t know either, Shawn,” Hoda remarked, prompting more laughter from Jenna.
Someone noted that the Barbie breakup was actually a marketing maneuver before Jenna switched gears, commenting—”Actually, I don’t think Barbie invented it, it was Princess Diana.”
Hoda and Savannah Guthrie recently joined the trend of transforming themselves into Barbie on social media, to celebrate the upcoming release of the new Barbie live action movie.
The trailer for the new film, which stars Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling, recently dropped, sparking the new social media trend.
Today shared posters of the show’s hosts hopping on the social media bandwagon. Savannah, 51, was all smiles wearing a sharp black dress with the tagline — “This Barbie is a legend.”
Hoda, 58, who was called an “inspiration” in her poster, rocked a cobalt blue jacket.
Al Roker, Craig Melvin, Sheinelle Jones and Jenna were also spotlighted in the Instagram post, which was captioned— “C’Mon Barbie, let’s go party.”
Fans cheered on the daytime team in the post’s comment section.
One person wrote — “The best anchors.”
Another fan called the images “iconic,” and a third commented, “this is incredible.”
Another person gave props to the staffer behind the post, declaring that Today’s “social media content creator deserves a raise.”
In February, Hoda and Jenna competed in a toboggan race in Quebec City, Canada. Hoda took the competition seriously and was excited when she was jokingly told that “a very heavy breakfast” could give her an edge.
Hoda started mocking Jenna, 41, remarking — “I’m feeling good. I’m feeling good about my chances. I’m gonna close my eyes and go. You gotta set it free and let it go. Jenna don’t have a chance.”
Hoda said while blowing kisses — “Bye, Jenna. Bye. See you at the bottom.”
Jenna fired back — “I’m gonna get my body tight like Marc asked me to, elbows in, knees in. It’s all about the form. She thinks she’s just gonna win it? It’s the form. And I’ve been practicing. Bye, Hoda.”
