‘Sister Wives’ Maddie Brown Shares Heartwarming Video of 3-Year-Old Daughter Riding a Scooter with Prosthetic Leg 

Sister Wives star Maddie Brown Brush has shared a sweet video of her daughter, Evie, riding a scooter with the help of her prosthetic leg. 

The 3-year-old enjoyed a warm spring day while zipping around on her scooter, in the cute Instagram video. Maddie set the video against Sia hit “Unstoppable,” and followed up with a snap of her daughter rocking sunglasses at a dentist’s office. 

Maddie, daughter to Kody and Janelle Brown, captioned the sassy shot — “Straight chillin.”

Evie had her foot amputated and her hand “clipped” two years ago, after being born with a rare genetic disorder. She was fitted for her new prosthetic only months later. Evie was diagnosed in the womb with oligodactyly, a congenital anomaly defined as the presence of fewer than five fingers on a hand. 

In August 2020, Maddie posted a photo of Evangalynn Kodi on Instagram, revealing the child’s bandaged leg and arm. 

“Evie received some major gifts for her 1st birthday,” Maddie wrote. “Her surgeon laid the groundwork for her new foot and mobility it will bring, by way of a boyd amputation. Another gave her some extra mobility in her hand, by clipping her webbing she had in her right hand.”

Months later, Maddie posted a Boomerang gif, sharing a glimpse of Evie’s  ongoing journey with fans. 

“Big day for Miss Evie! First molding for her prosthetic!” Maddie captioned the post.

Maddie explained that there were several stages to the molding process, which took time to complete. 

She told her fans and followers — “Evie was molded for a socket… Markings [were made] to show where the special points are. Where it needs to be molded specially for her socket.” 

The mom of three explained, at the time — “So, then he’s going to mold a clear socket and we go back and he fits her with the clear socket so he can see what it looks like. Does she need extra room here? Is this spot too tight? And then when he’s fixed the clear socket and it looks good in a clear socket, he will then make a prosthetic.”

Maddie, also mom to son, Axel, 5, and Josephine Lee, 1 month, added that she planned to continue to post updates as she and husband, Caleb Brush, wanted to raise awareness to encourage “normalization.” She noted that she was also in a “learning process.”

Maddie’s dramatic birthing story was featured on a past season of Sister Wives. In February, Maddie and Caleb welcomed their third child, a daughter, Josephine.

Maddie recently gave an update on how Joey’s big brother and sister were adjusting to the newest member of the family. 

“Axel and Evie are over the moon and absolutely in love with sweet Joey! We are still having some growing pains, as expected, but better than anticipated,” Maddie wrote.

Sister Wives is currently in production.
