Jen Shah Prison Sentence Reduced, She’s Coming Home Early

Jen Shah’s prison sentence has been reduced by one year, bumping up the Real Housewives of Salt Lake City alum’s release date to August 30, 2028, according to the Federal Bureau of Prison’s inmate database.

Shah was originally sentenced to 6.5 years in federal prison for fraud. In July 2022, the disgraced reality star pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud for her role in a massive telemarketing scheme, largely targeting the elderly. Shah, who was arrested by the feds while filming the Bravo series, initially professed her innocence but eventually admitted wrongdoing after her codefendants pled guilty.

The fallen Bravo star checked into Texas facility, Bryan Federal Prison Camp, (FPC) on February 17th.

Jen Shah’s rep issued a statement after news of the reduced sentence broke.

“I have spoken with my client Jen Shah over the phone this week — she is doing well and remains committed towards making her victims whole,” the rep told PEOPLE on Sunday. “She has initiated her payments towards restitution, and we hope to have her home as soon as possible so that she may resume life with her family and work, putting this chapter of her life behind her.”

Jen assistant and business partner, Stuart Smith, initially pleaded not guilty but reversed course in late November 2021, pleading guilty to charges linked to the scheme.

The indictment stated that Jen Shah and Smith were involved in a “Business Opportunity Scheme,” which involved marketing services that would supposedly boost performances and profits of their victims’ companies. Some businesses mentioned in court documents included “tax preparations or website design services.”

“I am sorry. My actions have hurt innocent people,” Shah told Judge Sidney Stein at  her sentencing hearing. “I want to apologize by saying, I am doing all I can to earn the funds to pay restitution.”

Several of Shah’s victims have spoken out about how the reality star’s “marketing” company wiped out their bank accounts and retirement funds. Shah supposedly remains committed to making “restitution to those whose lives she has impacted.”

Jen Shah’s attorney, Priya Chaudhry, previously told the mag—“[Jen’s] path ahead will be filled with challenges, but with the unwavering love and support of her family and friends, Jen is prepared to face these challenges head-on and emerge from this experience a better person who makes a positive impact on others.”

Earlier this month, Shah took to Instagram to describe her final goodbyes to her family.

Shah wrote that she “could not breathe” and described her hands going “numb” as they approached FPC.

“I knew I was having an anxiety attack,” Shah said, in part. “I made Coach pull over because our reception was poor while driving and I was not able to FaceTime my oldest baby. We finally connected, I saw his face, and I cried so hard until he reassured me that it would be OK. I didn’t think I would make it through today.”

Shah wrote that “my worst fear and the unimaginable was about to happen,” as she had to say goodbye to her husband, Sharrieff “Coach” Shah, and their 19-year-old son, Omar.

Jen went on to describe arriving at the prison gates and how she felt embracing her family one more time before turning herself in.
