‘1000-Lb. Sisters’ Amy Slaton BEGS Court For Protection Against ‘Violent’ Gun-Toting Husband Amid Divorce Filing
A judge has ruled that Michael Halterman is allowed supervised contact with the children he shares with 1000-Lb. Sisters star, Amy Slaton.
Amy Slaton, 35, amended her order of protection against her husband on March 8, 2023, the U.S. Sun reports.
On February 28, the TLC star filed an order of emergency protection, an order to surrender firearms and a protective order summons, against Michael, 40.
The outlet obtained the court docket that states — “Amended to allow contact with children on 3/8/23. Allowed supervised contact with children, no physical discipline, supervised by mother and sister.”
Amy made a 911 call four days before filing for the order of protection, alleging that Michael had become “violent” in the family home. Amy claimed that her husband began “throwing things” during an intense argument, according to the 911 dispatch document.
Michael filed for divorce in a Kentucky court seventeen days after the heated incident. The report stated that neither Amy nor Michael was under the influence of drugs or alcohol at the time. The couple was arguing over their breakup according to the responding officer, who arrived on the scene around 230 pm.
“Amy wants to separate, but the male doesn’t want to,” the report stated.
The reality star claimed that Michael “became violent” and started “throwing things” while the couple’s two sons, Gage and Glen, were in the home. Neither Michael nor Amy were arrested.
Court documents confirmed that Michael had filed for dissolution of marriage by March 13. A source told the U.S. Sun that the pair had been secretly arguing for months. An insider connected to 1000-lb Sisters told the outlet that Amy wanted her boys to continue to appear on the show, but Michael was against it.
“Michael doesn’t want the kids to be on the show, but Amy disagrees,” the source said.
The tipster added — “They have been fighting over this for months.”
The insider also claimed that Amy and her family believed Michael to be “lazy” when it came to caring for his children and “jealous” over the attention Amy showered on their two sons.
A source alleged that Amy had been “struggling emotionally” while taking care of her kids as a single mom and felt “overwhelmed” by the job, despite her sister, Tammy’s offered support.
The insider said — “No one in the family likes Michael.”
Amy and Michael, who eloped in 2017, held a wedding ceremony in 2019 that was featured on the popular reality series.
In November 2020, Amy Slaton and Michael welcomed a baby boy, Gage Deon Halterman. The TLC couple revealed in January 2022 that they were expecting their second child. Amy gave birth to their second son, Glenn Allen Halterman, on July 8, 2022.
