The REAL Reason Malaysia Pargo Quit ‘Basketball Wives’
The news of Malaysia Pargo’s exit from Basketball Wives has sparked a heated discussion on social media, with drama already unfolding due to Brandi Maxiell’s return.
As Basketball Wives fans know, Brandi and Malaysia had a falling out years ago after Brandi was fired. Brandi claimed Malaysia wasn’t supportive enough after she was dismissed — while Malaysia believes Brandi was upset about losing her job and thinks that Brandi holds a grudge because she doesn’t think Malaysia did enough to save it. Despite others in the group shunning Brandi, Malaysia continued to include her and film scenes.
Despite Malaysia’s attempt to resolve the issues with Brandi, the damage had already been done, and Brandi revealed to the other ladies that she could not trust Malaysia. Therefore, it was not feasible to believe that they could simply move on from their past differences.
Malaysia’s disagreement with Brandi was not the only cause of tension within the group, as she is also at odds with Jennifer Williams. The final straw for Jennifer was Malaysia reintroducing Zell Swag into the group. In retaliation, Jennifer accused Malaysia of losing her Atlanta home to foreclosure. Following this allegation, Malaysia informed Jackie Christie and DJ Duffey that she was quitting Basketball Wives.
During an interview with Carlos King, Jackie Christie was questioned about Malaysia’s exit.
“I do. But I also know that her mental health…she explained to me…I asked her one night, just between you and I, I said, ‘Malaysia, I really feel like there’s a way to make this work.’ Jackie shared. “‘My mental health is more important to me than anything. You know Jack, I love you sis, but please let me do what I need to do.’ And I had to respect that.”
Jackie continued, “So I had to say okay. I had to come to terms with this ain’t for Malaysia right now. Maybe in the future, who knows? But if it’s not working, don’t force someone to stay because I would never forgive myself Carlos if she stayed and things didn’t go well.”
Jackie Christie went on to explain that Malaysia is currently at a juncture in her life where she is trying to figure things out.
“Sometimes people are burned out, sometimes they’re tired. I feel like Malaysia’s at a point right now where she’s figuring it out. And we should let her do that.” Jackie commented.
During the February 27 episode of the VH1 series, Malaysia Pargo announced her decision to take a step back from the show.
“I enjoy doing Basketball Wives. It’s been 10 years,” Malaysia said. “But at a point, you have to realize and say, ‘I love a baby that don’t love me back.’ So I have to walk away from this group and this show.”
Malaysia added, “At this point, I won’t be coming around your group of friends anymore, the band that you put together,” she told Jackie. “I’m definitely not coming around that group of people, permanently. I just don’t care to be around people giving me, like, bad vibes. I guess what I’m trying to say is that my mental health is worth way more.”
