The View’s Whoopi Goldberg GOES OFF On Alyssa Farah Griffin In HEATED Exchange

Whoopi Goldberg shut down her co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, during a lively political discussion on Tuesday’s broadcast of The View. The moderator told her co-star to “hold up” as they hashed out a political joke involving Mike Pence.

The panel was engaged in a debate over whether it was appropriate for the former Vice President to call out Pete Buttigieg’s paternity leave. Whoopi, 67, slammed Pence during the group discussion and while most of the ladies agreed with her, Alyssa, 33, tried to offer a differing opinion.

“To me, this was a joke that did not land,” Alyssa, who had worked with Pence in the past, said.

Sunny Hostin, 54, called Pence’s joke “lazy” and “stale,” but Alyssa was not finished presenting her point of view.

“I do want to note though that Pence has been a champion of paid family leave, so I think that’s what was the issue for me not landing,” she said.

“But, that’s my point with it,” Whoopi interjected.

Alyssa went on — “But, I do want us to be careful. I don’t want us to turn into the snowflakes that we criticize. We’re like, ‘it’ a joke-.’”

Whoopi interrupted — “No, no wait. Hold up! Hold up!” She paused for a moment to gather her thoughts before commenting — “Those guys are snowflakes.”

Alyssa clumsily added — “No, I know. I think we need to like…”

“The point is, it was a joke that was bad for other times,” Whoopi argued. “It’s lazy because he does know better.”

Whoopi and Alyssa have clashed during panel discussions in the past, and last week the moderator cut off the cast newbie for switching topics mid-discussion.

The ladies were addressing California’s decision to not renew the state’s $54 million contract with Walgreens, over the company’s decision to not offer abortion pills.

Alyssa tried to change topics, but Whoopi just wasn’t having it.

Alyssa said — “But just real quick, back to my friend Governor Newsom, who decided he would take a vacation while people are dying in San Bernardino.”

“That has nothing to do with what we’re talking about right now,” Whoopi interjected, clearly annoyed.

She added — “Let’s stick to this.”

Alyssa objected — You’re targeting a company for following state laws.”

The pair continued their back-and-forth until Whoopi finally shut down the conversation.

“This is not going away. This conversation will go on and on and on, but we have to take a break. So we will,” Whoopi said, before cutting to a   commercial.

Whoopi cut off Alyssa in a previous exchange, last month. The duo debated whether younger candidates should be given a more prominent voice in American politics, and if a mental acuity test should be required for those over the age of 75.

Alyssa said — “My issue is less, we talk a lot about representation on this show, it’s less about the age, and about the fact that Gen Z and Millennials make up the biggest voting block in the country…”

Whoopi interrupted — “Yeah, but you know they’re not doing enough to get themselves elected. That’s the problem,” prompting audience applause.

The moderator added — “And you know what, I just really want to say that I am really sick of people talking about age because if you can do the job, I don’t care how old you are.”

Alyssa tried to jump in, but there was no stopping Whoopi’s rant. She didn’t wrap her comments until she was told to cut to commercial.

The View airs on weekdays at 11 am ET on ABC.
