Man Who Joked On ‘Family Feud’ About Regretting His Marriage, Charged With Killing His Wife

An Illinois man who appeared alongside his family on the TV game show, Family Feud, has been charged with the murder of his wife. The body of Rebecca Bliefnick, 41, was discovered after she failed to pick up the couple’s three children from school. 

Quincy resident, Timothy Bliefnick, 39, was arrested and charged with two counts of first-degree murder and one count of a home invasion on Monday, the New York Post reports. 

“This brutal crime has had the Quincy community on edge and our residents living in fear,” Quincy Police Chief Adam Yates wrote on the department’s Facebook account.

He added—“I hope today’s announcement can begin to calm some of those concerns.”

Tim Bliefnick’s estranged wife was found shot to death at her Kentucky Road residence on February 23. 

The couple had been separated for several years and were in the middle of a divorce, per a report by KHQA. Tim and Rebecca wed in 2009. 

The outlet cited court documents that have since been wiped from Illinois online public records, due to the judge sealing the case. The documents reportedly revealed that Rebecca, or an agency acting on her behalf, had filed restraining orders against both Tim and his father.

KHQA also covered the 2020 “Family Feud” watch party, as Tim and his family competed on the popular game show. 

Rebecca’s family commented on the arrest, telling Fox News Digital—“While the arrest today provides a step towards closure, this journey is far from over and the investigation continues.” 

“Our highest priority remains protecting and loving Becky’s sons who were the lights of her life. As we continue mourning, we will love and care for them in the ways we know she would want,” the family added.

Tim had been employed by Quincy Farm Products in business development, according to a recent LinkedIn profile. The company’s vice president of finance and administration, Philip Hildebrand Jr., confirmed that the suspect was no longer their employee and that they were cooperating with the  authorities. 

“Our thoughts and prayers are with Rebecca Bliefnick and her family, and we’re hoping for justice,” Hildebrand told the outlet.

Tim is being held on a no-bond warrant at the Adams County Jail. His lawyer, Casey Schnack, stated that she was prepping a series of court filings “to protect his interests and preserve his constitutional rights.”

“I have requested but have not received copies of the charging document and arrest warrant,” she told Fox News Digital. 

The attorney added that Tim had never been arrested nor were the couple’s three sons ever removed from the family home, because of domestic violence. 

Rebecca’s sister, Sarah Reilly, launched an online fundraiser to create a  scholarship to honor the mom of three. 

“Despite the circumstances of her death, she is remembered for the life she cherished — a life of compassion, generosity, faith, and fierce love for her family,” her sister wrote.

“She leaves behind three young children and an entire community who loved her more than anything. Becky always envisioned herself working hands-on in the medical profession, so it was no surprise when she chose a career in nursing — her true calling — where she was able to provide care and comfort to people on a daily basis,” she added.
