The Below Deck Mediterranean star’s announcement came after she exited Season 10 after temporarily taking over for Below Deck’s Captain Lee Rosbach, while he tended to a health issue.

“Today we celebrate the incredible achievements of women in both the yachting industry and all walks of life around the globe. Let’s continue to uplift and empower each other – especially the women,” Captain Sandy wrote on March 8, in honor of International Women’s Day.

Captain Sandy shared that the new organization’s focus would be on “maritime and environmental education and employment opportunities.”

“I want to inform young people about the advantages of entering the maritime/yachting industry, regardless of completing high school or college,” “Be the Calm or Be the Storm” author wrote.

Captain Lee

Bravo viewers know that it was not all smooth sailing after Captain Sandy stepped in for Captain Lee.

Captain Sandy clashed with Captain Lee in real time for firing stew, Camille Lamb, after taking over the St. David. Captain Lee criticized his substitute for not communicating with him before dismissing a member of his crew.

“He’s in the hospital. Who’s gonna call and say, ‘Can I fire Camille?’ Never in a million years would I do that,” the Bravo star later explained during a February 1 appearance on SiriusXM’s Reality Checked. “But what I did was give him a courtesy call saying, ‘By the way, I did fire her. You almost had a mutiny on your boat because of her.’”

Captain Sandy continued — “Plus, who’s gonna call someone while they’re having surgery and then recovering from surgery? I don’t know what happened, but I tried to call him a few times and he hasn’t picked the phone up.”

The Bravo captain later axed stew, Alissa Humber, citing insubordination, and butted heads with chief stew, Fraser Olender.

The 57-year-old later revealed to Us Weekly that she had considered firing  Fraser.

“There was a moment [where I considered firing him]. Absolutely. Because listen the walls are thin and [it is important to not] jump on their bandwagon. Change that narrative. That’s your role as the superior here,” the Florida native explained. “You’re absolutely responsible for your team. So I didn’t go to the [interior] team members [with my issues]. I went to the chief stew and said, ‘This isn’t happening. You hired them. Fix it.’”

She added — “Like, if you need help, ask me. But until then, I stay out of it. I will only help if I see that the client is suffering in service. If I see something going wrong or there’s disharmony on board in my eyes — that’s when I step in.”
