Ryan Seacrest Accuses Mark Consuelos of ‘Gaslighting’ Kelly Ripa
Ryan Seacrest accused Kelly Ripa’s husband, Mark Consuelos, of gaslighting his co-star, during a Live episode that aired last week.
Kelly shared that she had uncovered a previously unknown fact about her husband, despite the pair being together for more than 25 years. She revealed that after she questioned Mark about it, he tried to convince her that she already knew about the chilly revelation. Kelly explained that the discovery led to her asking herself what else she might not know about her longtime partner.
Kelly told Ryan during Tuesday’s show — “I just found out something.
You know how you’re married to someone for like, 30 years, and you think you might know them? Wrong again.”
Her co-host asked — “You pulled back the curtain on something?”
Kelly dramatically revealed — “Mark takes frigid cold showers in the morning,” prompting gasps from the studio audience.
Kelly added — “I feel like he’s been living a lie.”
The mom of three confirmed that she was in the dark about her husband’s bizarre hygiene routine, before teasing that she “doesn’t know who he is.”
Kelly joked — “Like, will I find another wife? Is there a separate family? Did he forget that I’m the warm water wife.”
Kelly went on to share how Mark reacted when she questioned him about his brisk morning ritual.
“He said to me, ‘I always take a cold shower in the mornings, you know that,’” she said. “He’s trying to convince me he’s always done that. It’s like being married to a stranger now.”
Ryan took Kelly’s side and drew the audience in when he accused Mark of gaslighting his wife. The host bashed Kelly’s hubby, teasing — “Oh, now he’s gaslighting! He’s gaslighting.”
The audience members joined in with the American Idol host, and began booing Mark.
The duo’s back-and-forth came only weeks after the show announced that Mark would be permanently taking over Ryan’s co-host spot, later this year. Ryan will be leaving the morning show after co-hosting alongside Kelly for six years. He shared last month that he was excited to hand off his spot to Kelly’s “real husband,” giving Mark the green light to “remodel my dressing room.”
In January, Kelly spilled some inside tea about her husband while answering a fan question posted on the official ABC social media account. The Live host revealed what her husband told her shortly before she gave birth, in a response to an expectant father.
The question read — “What is one thing that your partner did, said or brought to the hospital that really helped you through your birth experience?”
Kelly responded in the comment section, which was shared by “Comments by Celebs” with the caption—”Can’t make it up.”
The daytime host wrote that Mark said — “‘Do you mind if I eat?” and “I’m going to the batting cages since you’re gonna be here a while.’”
