Al Roker Makes Cryptic Comment About Hoda Kotb’s Absence From ‘Today’ Show

Hoda Kotb’s colleague, Al Roker, is being very vague about her absence from the Today show — adding to the mystery of the situation.

During an exclusive interview with Page Six at the Hudson River Friends 7th Annual Playground Committee Luncheon on Friday, the 68-year-old Today show weatherman confirmed, “She’s going to be just fine.” He went on to say, “She’s dealing with what she’s gotta deal with, and all will be good.”

Due to a “family health matter,” Hoda Kotb’s two-week absence from the morning show has raised concerns among fans. Hoda Kotb is 58 years old.

On Friday’s show, Hoda Kotb made a brief appearance in a pre-taped interview with John Easterling, Olivia Newton-John’s widower, and Chloe Lattanzi, her daughter. Earlier in the week, co-host Craig Melvin addressed Kotb’s absence.

“We know a lot of you have been wondering how she’s doing. We can tell you that Hoda is OK, [but] she’s got a family health matter that she’s been dealing with,” Melvin said on Wednesday’s live broadcast.

Melvin added that Kotb will be “back here at the desk very, very soon.”

During the Wednesday episode of Today with Hoda & Jenna — Willie Geist and Jenna Bush Hager also shared their thoughts on the matter.

“Willie [Geist] is in for Hoda Kotb, and we just want to let you all know that we heard you, and Hoda is OK,” Jenna Bush Hager told viewers. “She just has a family health matter she is dealing with.”

Jenna Bush Hager, 41, and Willie Geist, 47 — who has been filling in for Hoda Kotb — both added that they “love” and “adore” the mom of two and can’t wait for her return “very, very soon.”

The Hudson River Friends 7th Annual Playground Committee Luncheon, which recognized Jill Kargman, was originally planned to be hosted by Dylan Dreyer from the Today show. However, she had a scheduling conflict, so Craig Melvin took over. Unfortunately, Melvin had to step down as he was hosting a “Dateline” special on the Alex Murdaugh murder case. The veteran co-host of the “Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade” was pleased to step in to help.

“That’s the beauty of the ‘Today’ show,” Roker explained. “The sum is greater than its parts. I don’t want to say we’re interchangeable but we all pitch in, something’s going on, you step up.

“Is this the worst thing in the world? No. Lot of nice people doing something really great for New York City, that’s not such a bad deal.”

As reported, fans of Hoda Kotb are expressing concern over her absence, which has lasted for two weeks, due to a family health matter.
