‘Sister Wives’ Meri Brown Sets Record Straight On Her Sexuality

Sister Wives star Meri Brown set the record straight on her sexuality, after a photo sparked rumors about the TLC star. 

Meri Brown, 52, confirmed that she was straight during a recent Instagram Live after rumors swirled that she was secretly seeing a female friend. 

“I’ve got people really wondering what I may or may not want to say. I’m just gonna do it. I am …straight,” Meri explained. “I made an announcement. Now that you all know. You heard it from my mouth. I’m coming out as being straight.”

Meri shared her frustration over “tabloids” and fans debating her sexuality because of her social media posts. 

“It does not matter who I take a picture with and post it,” the 52-year-old TLC star said. “I’m either dating this guy or dating this girl because people can’t seem to think I can be friends, completely platonic friends, with females or males.”

The rumors came after Meri and Kody Brown confirmed their breakup after a 32-year marriage. Meri posted a formal announcement in January, writing that “after a decade of working on our relationship in our own unique ways,” the pair had decided to call it quits.  

Meri publicly confirmed that her marriage was over during the Sister Wives: One on One special, which aired in December. She explained that Kody was the one who “made the decision” to end things, when he revealed that he no longer considered himself married to his first wife. Meri clarified that she believed that they were working to salvage their broken relationship. 

“Even since being in Flagstaff, he has led me to believe that he was trying,” she explained during the special. “You know, our first anniversary that we had here in Flagstaff, it was cheers to a new beginning as opposed to this last anniversary he’s like, ‘I don’t even know why you called me Meri.’”

She continued — “He’s like, ‘We’re not married. We’re not acting as married.’ I said to him, ‘Then if that’s where we are, don’t you think that we should address that publicly?’ And he said, ‘No I don’t want to address it. I don’t want that to be out there publicly because I don’t want that judgment.’”

Meri has been keeping busy in her new life as a single woman, posting smiling selfies on social media and enjoying time with friends. 

Kody remains legally married to fourth wife, Robyn, amid rumors that the pair may be seeking a new wife to replace the three that fled the plural marriage. The duo was recently spotted in Las Vegas and some believed that the pair was on the hunt for someone new, per a report by the U.S. Sun.

Kody and Robyn were also spotted walking around a Las Vegas shopping center with an unidentified female, revving up rumors that Kody might be on the hunt for a new wife. Social media users swapped theories after the photo circulated online. 

Sister Wives Season 18 is currently in production.
