Dwyane Wade’s Son Now Legally A Girl … Judge OVERRULES Mother’s Objections!

Dwyane Wade’s daughter, Zaya Wade, has been issued with a legal name change and gender marker by the court in Miami, allowing her to officially change her name and gender as part of her gender identity transition.

Zaya, who is 13 years old, has been open about her gender identity since coming out as transgender in February 2020. She has become a public figure due to her father’s fame as a basketball player and her family’s openness about their journey.

In December 2019, Zaya approached her father and stepmother, Gabrielle Union, to share that she was transgender. The couple immediately offered their love and support and became vocal advocates for the LGBTQ+ community.

The family’s openness about their daughter’s journey has sparked conversations about transgender rights and the challenges faced by transgender youth. They have used their platform to advocate for inclusion and acceptance.

Dwyane Wade has spoken out in support of his daughter, saying, “We are proud parents of a child in the LGBTQ+ community, and we are proud allies as well.”

He has also been critical of those who do not support his daughter’s gender identity, saying, “When you become a parent, you have to adjust and get to know your child all over again. You have to be patient. You have to be understanding. You have to educate yourself.”

Zaya has also become an advocate in her own right, using her social media presence to speak out about trans rights and raise awareness of issues facing the community.

In a recent post, Zaya wrote, “I just want to say that I’m so grateful for all the love and support I’ve received from everyone. I’m still learning and coming into myself, but I appreciate you all for allowing me to be myself.”

The legal name change and gender marker allows Zaya to legally change her name and gender, affirming her identity as a young trans person. This legal process is an important step for transgender individuals as it allows them to have identification documents that match their gender identity, reducing the risk of discrimination and harassment.

The family has not released any statements regarding the legal name change and gender marker, but it is clear that they are committed to supporting Zaya through her journey.

Dwyane Wade has said, “We love her and we appreciate her and we respect her and we are proud parents of a child who has her own identity and who is brave and who is committed to loving herself and loving others.”

Zaya Wade’s journey is a powerful reminder of the importance of acceptance and inclusion for all individuals, regardless of their gender identity. As Wade has said, “We want to make sure that we give them the best opportunity to be their best self and to live their best life.”

Zaya’s mother is unhappy with the outcome of the legal change – which now gives her the right to undergo gender reassignment surgery.

Zaya’s mother, Siohvaughn Funches-Wade, opposes her youngest child’s gender transition – at least while Zaya is still a minor. In his defense, Dwyane referred to Shiovaughn’s opposition as “nonsensical.”
