Whoopi Goldberg Blasts Nikki Haley For Calling For ‘New Generation’ Of White House Leadership

Whoopi Goldberg took aim at Nikki Haley after the GOP presidential hopeful called for a “new generation of leadership” in the White House. The 67-year-old host of The View slammed the politician only days after CNN host, Don Lemon, took heat for dissing Haley for not being in “her prime.”

On Monday’s show, Whoopi played a clip cut from a video of the 51-year-old announcing her run for the White House, before calling out the former South Carolina governor for using the term “new generation.”

“The Washington establishment has failed us over and over and over again,” Haley said in the clip featured on Monday’s show. “It’s time for a new generation of leadership.”

Whoopi fired a shot at Haley immediately after the clip ended.

“You’re not a new generation. You’re 51,” the moderator said. “What are you talking about?”

“It’s not a new generation. She may be younger than most of those people, but her rhetoric is the same. She’s saying the same BS,” she went on. “I love the young kid, but the only way you get younger people to run is if you’re out there talking to people saying ‘run.’ We’re not going to vote for people who don’t have our best interests at heart.”

Whoopi clarified that she believed that a candidate’s age is inconsequential as long as the person “can do the job” and “get stuff done for America,” unlike Lemon, who implied that Haley was too old to run for POTUS because she was “past her prime.”

“I’m sick of people talking about age. If you can do the job, I don’t care about the age,” Whoopi noted. “You can be as old as dirt if you’re getting stuff done for America. That’s how I feel.”

“If you get a lot of young people put in there, you’re still going to have to sit at the feet of older people because you don’t know as much,” she continued. “You think you do, and relax. Relax. You think you’re going to live forever, you’re not.”

Whoopi made headlines last week, after she cut off co-host, Alyssa Farah Griffin, during a panel discussion about gun violence and mental health.

The episode featured an emotional discussion over gun violence, in the wake of the Michigan State University tragedy. The hosts were discussing common profiles of shooters involved in such disturbing incidents when Whoopi clashed with Alyssa.

Alyssa referenced issues that young men face and how sad statistics point to a growing number of men suffering from mental health problems that can potentially lead to arrests, overdoses, and even suicides.

Alyssa asked — “What is going on with the young men in our country that is allowing this to happen?”

“Guns are part of the problem, absolutely, but I’m worried here that the left and the right bear some responsibility,” she added. “The left will not touch the mental health side of this and the right won’t touch the gun side.”

Whoopi interrupted her co-host before she could wrap her thoughts.

“That’s not accurate,” Whoopi said, repeating — “That’s not accurate.”

“Let’s not touch the mental health aspect,” she added.
