Jen Shah Wants to ‘Make Amends And Reconcile’ With Her Victims
Jen Shah expressed remorse in a statement released Friday and claimed that she wanted to “make amends” with her victims.
The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star wrote on Instagram that her surrender to prison was “the price I must pay for the bad decisions I made.”
“People got hurt because of my decisions,” Jen went on. “While incarcerated, I will work to make amends and reconcile with the victims of my crime.”
Jen then directed her fans and followers to her bio which had a link to an interview posted on YouTube, during which she referenced “lying to herself” because she couldn’t bring herself to “believe” that she had committed a crime.
“In time, I pray that people will judge me for the way I responded to this sentence, rather than only for the decisions that led me to prison,” the Bravo star wrote.
Jen noted a plan to “publish” her work which would supposedly “invite” people to hold her accountable. She offered no further details.
She wrapped her thoughts, writing — “I am a believer in earning freedom, and I’ll work toward the goal by making things right with the people I hurt.”
The post’s comment section was disabled and the caption stated that “an administrator” would be sharing updates.
Jen’s lawyer, Priya Chaudhry, issued a statement last week, which stated that her client was “prepared to face challenges” before checking into prison.
“Jen Shah’s resolve to make her victims whole and to turn her life around is unyielding,” the attorney said on Thursday.
“She is committed to serving her sentence with courage and purpose, fueled by her desire to make amends for the hurt she has caused and to help others in her new community,” Jen’s lawyer wrote.
Jen painted a different picture only weeks ago when she appeared to be celebrating her prison sentence with an extravagant dinner party. The Utah “Housewife” was spotted partying at an Italian restaurant after a judge sentenced the mom of two to 6.5 years behind bars.
Jen told the judge earlier that day — “I want to apologize by saying, I am doing all I can to earn the funds to pay restitution.”
She went on to blame “longstanding untreated mental issues” which caused her to “create my own fractured reality.”
Shah was arrested in March 2021 amid accusations that she was running a nationwide telemarketing scheme that targeted hundreds of people, specifically the elderly. She struck a plea deal with prosecutors in July 2022, pleading guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud, after initially professing her innocence.
Jen is serving out her sentence at a Federal Prison Camp in Bryan, Texas, a women’s minimum security facility. She will be required to keep her cell in pristine condition which will involve making her bed, taking out her trash, and cleaning the floor. The Bravo star will also have to take a factory job or work in food service.
