Alexia Echevarria Reveals She’ll ‘Never Recover’ From Son Frankie’s Car Accident
Alexia Echevarria opened up about her ongoing struggle to cope with her son Frankie Rosello’s accident in an emotional statement on Instagram.
The Real Housewives of Miami star wrote about the difficult period that followed the crash, which included grueling months of recovery for the then-thirteen-year-old. The 55-year-old Peacock star wanted to be sure that her fans and followers understood her personal perspective after aspects of the ordeal were discussed on the show.
“I will never recover from Frankie’s accident,” Alexia said. “It’s only my wish that he can continue to improve in time, and he can be as ‘normal and productive’ as his limitations allow. I will never accept the loss of my dreams for him, and I will never give up on him or Peter. Our pain is so deep.”
Alexia spoke about her journey as a mom over the 11 years since the accident, which included six months of hospital visits and working to adjust to her son’s post-accident needs.
Frankie suffered permanent brain damage after the near-fatal car accident. He was riding in the passenger seat of a friend’s vehicle at the time of the crash.
Alexia blasted all comparisons between her son’s condition and her co-star, Adriana de Moura’s injured foot, which became a hot topic during a cast trip to Baha Mar.
“For anyone to use Frankie’s accident to compare or ‘connect’ their level of pain or suffering to what Frankie has endured is wrong ESPECIALLY when referring to a FAKE INJURY,” Alexia wrote.
“We can fight on camera about nonsense like me not scrolling down or the men of our past until we’re blue in the face, but I draw the line at Frankie when you intentionally want to hurt me,” she added.
“Housewives” from across Bravo franchises, including Kyle Richards, Kenya Moore, Candiace Dillard, and Larsa Pippen offered kind words of support in the post’s comment section. Larsa, Alexia’s co-star wrote — “Love u guys soo much.”
Frankie, who is now 25, began appearing alongside his mom on the Peacock series in 2021.
Alexia told Entertainment Tonight that she was excited for fans to see how her son had progressed in the years since RHOM was pulled from the Bravo lineup.
“I want to show everyone the progress that he’s made,” she said. “That’s why I always really wanted the show to come back because I know so many people prayed for him. And so many people were rooting for us as a family. That, to me, was important to give those families that are going through it that hope, and to show that he’s a miracle and that he’s healthy and he’s happy and he’s my life.”
The Real Housewives of Miami is currently streaming on Peacock.
