RHOBH’s Kyle Richards Talks Backlash From Fans

Kyle Richards is speaking out about the upcoming season of The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills, after enjoying what she called her “longest break” since the show launched 13 years ago. 

Kyle reflected on her relationships within the group and addressed casting rumors, as filming season neared.  

“We usually have a month off after the reunion. We’ve now had four months. We’ve never had that. This is the longest break I’ve had in 13 years,” Kyle told In The Know by Yahoo’s Gibson Johns, on February 7. 

Kyle shared that she spent her off-season traveling and spending time at her new home in Aspen. She added that she tried to keep her mind off the drama that exploded during Season 12, most notably her falling out with sister, Kathy Hilton. 

The Bravo veteran also addressed various fan reactions to her behavior on the show. 

“There are some seasons where I can do absolutely no wrong, and then there are some seasons where people come after me and I deserved it. Then there are times where I don’t feel like I did anything and they’ll still come after me. You just don’t know,” Kyle said of the fan feedback. “I try to just stick with people that know me and know who I am and love me and support me. It’s easy for me to not think about the show … It’s been very good for me to have this extra time, for sure.”

Various reports alleged that a cast shakeup was in the works over the long hiatus. RHOBH alums, Lisa Vanderpump and Brandi Glanville, were rumored to be potential comeback cast members. Ayda Field and even Paris Hilton have been among the names floated for Season 13. 

Kyle shot down all of the casting rumors. 

“Ayda Field, someone was just talking about her [joining the show],” Kyle shared. “I can just tell you that not one thing I’ve read online is true. Not one thing.”

Actress, Melanie Griffith, has also been on the rumored shortlist of possible RHOBH newcomers. 

“I remember I was talking to Melanie Griffith at the Halloween premiere and I was like, ‘Apparently, I’ve been trying to get you on the show!’ And she said, ‘I saw that everywhere!’ I had never met her, but I saw her on the plane in Aspen and we talked in the airport in Aspen and said hi — we’re both very close to Jamie Lee Curtis,” Kyle explained.

“If you’re reading this, Melanie, come on, let’s do it,” she quipped. 

“I feel like Crystal and I really haven’t had a chance [to get close]. We’ve had moments of not getting along, but when we don’t have those moments, we get along great. We just haven’t gotten close,” Kyle went on. “I feel close to [Sutton Stracke], which I don’t think you see on the show … We get along great. She makes me laugh, and we have fun together.”

“[Then there’s] Garcelle,” she said, adding— “who I’ve had bumps with. I actually really like Garcelle. We get along great, and we’re good and I’m hoping to get even closer and have more fun with her.”

Kyle noted that while she would miss her pal, Lisa Rinna, she believed that her exit could encourage new friendships within the group. 

“Whenever someone is really tight with another cast member and they leave, then all of a sudden that person who was very close to them is going to have to be more open to other relationships — especially Erika [Girardi], I would say,” Kyle asserted. “I’ve always been close with Erika and we had our issues this last year, but people end up leaning on their wingman a lot, so it does open up the door to be closer to other people.”

The Real Housewives of Beverly Hills is currently in production for Season 13.
