‘My 600-Lb. Life’ Star Steven Assanti Found Dead

My 600-Lb. Life star, Steven Assanti, is reportedly dead, at the age of 40, according to a family friend.

The death announcement was made via Steven Assanti’s official Instagram account by a family friend and concerned TLC fans are shocked by the tragic news.

The post was made on February 11 via Instagram — and the captioned stated, “Steven Assanti has passed away yesterday his heart gave out. We aak [sic: ask] that you please respect the privacy of his family. Thank you.”

Steven Assanti has struggled with his weight for years. His battle with obesity inspired him to study psychology, so that he could help others in similar situations. Steven’s struggles with psychological problems that come from being morbidly obese.

Immediately news of Steven Assanti’s death flooded various social media platforms, with fans of the TLC sensation inquiring is “Steven Assanti dead” and where can they locate “Steven Assanti obituary” to pay their respects.

Tipping the scale at almost 800 pounds, Steven Assanti appeared on My 600-Lb. Life alongside his brother, Justin, in 2017. His abrasive personality appalled many fans, and some even advocated for his removal from the TLC reality series.

On February 1, Steven Assanti took to his Instagram to report that he was dying and asked his followers to pray for him. He wrote, “Prayer warriors. I feel like my journey is coming to an end soon – prayers are welcomed. I am now dealing with fluid around my heart which was found on x-ray, which scares me and now i have to live in fear everyday wondering how long i truly have to live. I love you all even my haters – goodbye for now!”

My 600-Lb. Life: Fans Have Doubts

Steven Assanti has a serious and dangerous drug habit, so after reports of his death began to circulate — many fans took to social media to share their thoughts. One person wrote, “Steven was miserable. I had a hard time watching because of his attitude. But may he RIP.”

Another stated, “I don’t believe he’s dead. He has so many mental issues and lied so much , I just can’t believe a word that come out of his mouth.”

A third wrote, “He is a very unstable person.”He was also on dr Phil! He was awful when he was on Dr Now. I wouldn’t believe a word he says.”

Based on social media doubting Steven Assanti was actually dead, we also questioned the validity of his death announcement. And during the course of our research, the death announcement post was deleted — bringing rise to speculation.

My 600-Lb. Life: Who Is Steven Assanti 

Steven Assanti appeared on the final two episodes of My-600 lb Life’s fifth season with his brother, Justin Assanti. Before his appearance on the show, Steven appeared on Dr. Phil’s House of Hatred in 2007. 

In 2015, Steven appeared on a local news broadcast that caught the attention of TLC producers. The Rhode Island local, claims he was kicked out of a hospital for violating gastric bypass rules by ordering pizza. Shortly after, TLC producers cast him for My 600-Lb. Life.

Steven was born on December 2, 1981. The brothers were born to an alcoholic mother and their father separated when they were 11 and 5, respectively.

Originally, the brothers lived with their mother, but unfortunately they suffered abuse at the hands of her boyfriend. As a means of coping, Steven and Justin turned to binge eating.

Request for comment from Steven’s family and TLC have not been returned.
