Bravo Cancels ‘RHONY Legacy’ … TOO CHEAP To Pay Housewives

Sources close to Bravo reveal that the network is no longer interested in pursuing RHONY Legacy spin-off over salary demands.

The Bravo spin-off show was set to bring back some OG cast members like Luann De Lesseps, Sonja Morgan, Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, and Dorinda Medley, according to Page Six. However, insiders at Bravo now say contract talks have broken down, and the network has decided to “put a pause” on the Legacy show.

Sources close to the cast say that the network is low-balling them while production allegedly slammed the cast members for thinking “they should make what the cast of ‘Friends’ made in their heyday.” Amid the standstill, insiders say the network has lost interest in bringing the show to viewers. Apart from the money Bravo is willing to pay the talent per episode being an issue, another sticking point is how many episodes they are willing to give each housewife.

Normally, a main cast member is guaranteed about 12 episodes out of about 24 episodes that air each season. However, insiders say that Bravo is only willing to promise each cast member of The Real Housewives of New York Legacy around four episodes for the first season of the show. Another source close to the cast said the network’s offer was “belittling.”

“It’s not worth it and it’s belittling. These are the women that have made the show a hit in the first place. They don’t deserve to be nickel-and-dimed,” the source said. Another source close to production said that not all of the women have a problem with Bravo’s offer, but only a few.

“They are generous offers but a few of the women now believe they should make what the cast of ‘Friends’ made in their heyday.”

It’s good to note that the cast of the comedy series were paid $1 million per episode. They added that production has just ended up losing interest and is more focused on the reboot.

Andy Cohen

The insider said, “The network seems to have just lost interest in pursuing the ‘Legacy’ edition at this point. It seems producers are more focused on the RHONY reboot which we are hearing is fun, funny and aspirational.”

As the sad news about the current state of The Real Housewives of New York Legacy broke, executive producer Andy Cohen teased about how filming of the reboot is going. During an episode of Watch What Happens Live, he is super excited and the ladies are “super fashionable.”

Cohen said, “I’m exci- I mean they’re super fashionable. The things that they are arguing about are as ridiculous as early RHONY. So I think its going to be a different show. It’s so hard because everyone is going to compare it to RHONY, which was so perfect and I hope this is perfect in a totally different way.” However, many fans weren’t happy to hear that Real Housewives of New York Legacy might not be happening.

One fan wrote on Twitter, “i’m honestly not ok with a situation where we never have lu or sonja back on our screens as housewives. so if legacy TRULY doesn’t work out, then i’m gonna need for bravo to figure it out on the reboot and figure out how to get lu and sonja in there.”

Another fan slammed Andy for teasing the reboot the way he did. “yikes I feel like by his body language he knows it’s nowhere near as good as it was but he’s really trying to sell it lol.”
