Kelly Dodd’s Husband Rick Leventhal Injured in Horrific Car Accident

Kelly Dodd left Aspen to be with her husband, Rick Leventhal, after he was involved in a scary car accident Tuesday.

The former Real Housewives of Orange County star rushed to a Palm Springs, CA hospital on Wednesday morning after arriving in Colorado on Tuesday. Kelly, 47, shared photos of the horrific crash on social media, adding that she was “so thankful” that her husband made it through the ordeal.

Rick posted a photo snapped from his hospital bed, revealing that his injuries included a fractured foot and several broken ribs. 

“So lucky to be alive & grateful for the well wishes & care I’m getting,” the ex-Fox News reporter revealed. “4 broken ribs, fractured bone right foot, wounded pride. So far that’s it.”

Rick reportedly lost control of his vehicle while driving down California’s I-10 during a downpour, hydroplaning across multiple lanes. Rick told TMZ that he slammed his car — Kelly’s Mercedes-Benz S-Class — into a tractor-trailer and the median wall. The impact deployed the airbags and shattered the windshield. 

Rick explained that he received aid from a truck driver who helped get him out of the smashed car. He was transported to a local hospital after being freed from the vehicle, which was reportedly totaled. He added that he believed that the deployed airbags broke his ribs. 

Kelly told her fans and followers that she was at the airport early Wednesday morning. “Going to see my baby,” she wrote on her Instagram Story, before taking off for California.  

The ex-reality star told fans that she and her husband would be canceling Wednesday’s episode of their podcast, The Rick & Kelly Show, after sharing photos of the wrecked car. Kelly asked her followers to pray for Rick as he began his recovery in the emergency room. 

Kelly made headlines last month, after landing in hot water with former co-stars, Tamra Judge and Shannon Beador, after she and Rick dished about Tamra and her husband, Eddie’s sex life, on their podcast.

Kelly revealed during an October episode that Shannon’s then-boyfriend, John Janssen, had shared inside info with Rick regarding the couple’s sex life. Rick later admitted that while he shouldn’t have identified John as the snitch, he believed that banter about Tamra and Eddie’s sex life should be fair game.

“I was wrong for betraying John’s trust, but the fact is Tamra and Eddie have both talked about their sex life publicly on their show repeatedly. So for us to mention what [Eddie] said to John about their sex life – it shouldn’t be a big deal because they’re the ones bringing it up,” Rick said in  November.

Kelly explained at the time that Shannon had recently ended their friendship, which had been ongoing since Kelly left the show in 2021. Kelly also raised an eyebrow at Shannon’s current relationships with Tamra and Vicki Gunvalson, claiming that the friendships were not the real deal.

“First of all, Shannon is not my friend okay? When I was talking to Shannon, I tried to get Vicki and I tried to get Tamra together okay? And Shannon didn’t want to have anything to do with them. All of the sudden now they are thrown in the mix and now she wants to talk to them because it’s her bread and butter,” the former Bravo star said.

Shannon reportedly “ghosted” her former co-star despite Kelly apologizing for Rick, after he spilled the spicy info shared by John.
