Ashley Darby Admits The ‘Sesame Street’ Character Lied On Chris Bassett 

Ashley Darby recently responded to claims that she and her friend, Deborah Williams, lied about Candiace Dillard Bassett’s husband, Chris Bassett being inappropriate towards her. 

Real Housewives of Potomac star, Ashley Darby, appeared on Watch What Happens Live with Andy Cohen this week. The mother of two gave her thoughts on some of the drama going down in the recent episodes of RHOP.

Ashley and Candiace this season on friendly terms, but all of that changed after Ashley went after Chris for sending her a DM late at night. She also spread rumors from her friend, Deborah, who said Chris, 42, was hitting on her during Karen Huger’s event. In a recent episode, Ashley, 34, invited Deborah to another event Karen hosted and insisted she shares her experience with Candiace. 

The “Drive Back” singer wasn’t interested in hearing what Deborah had to say, but Ashley insisted. After she made the accusation, producers cut to footage of Chris and Deborah talking, and it seemed like he wasn’t paying much attention to her. Instead, he was on his phone. The scene made Ashley and Deborah look like liars in front of Real Housewives of Potomac fans.

During her appearance on Watch What Happens Live, Ashley was asked how she felt about spreading Deborah’s claims, which turned out to be untrue.

One fan asked the reality star, “Ashley, what was your reaction when you saw the footage of Chris’ interaction with Deborah since it contradicted everything she said about Chris?”

Another viewer added, “And do you feel like you owe an apology for spreading Deborah’s lies?”

In her response, Ashley defended Deborah from the backlash.

“Alright guys, so this is a really difficult thing because Deborah is my friend. We’ve been there for each other, and I know her to be truthful. Now, what Deborah is telling me and what I saw do conflict. So I do have to talk to Deborah about it. We haven’t had a detailed discussion about it.”

A shocked Andy Cohen didn’t believe they hadn’t spoken about the incident since it is all the Real Housewives of Potomac fans are talking about on the internet. “You haven’t? it’s been months!” he exclaimed.

Ashley explained that she didn’t see the footage of Chris ignoring Deborah until producers included it in a recent episode. So she hasn’t had a chance to talk about it yet. “But Deborah maintains that there were some things that were not lining up,” Ashley said.

Candiace said that Ashley and Gizelle Bryant’s accusations against her husband were only made for a storyline. Bryant accused Chris of being inappropriate towards her while they were backstage during the filming of last season’s reunion. Nothing happened between the two, but Gizelle insisted that being alone with Chris made her uncomfortable.

When a fan on Twitter pointed out to Candiace that Gizelle might be using her and Chris for a storyline, Candiace just had to respond.

The fan tweeted, “If it’s just going to be desperation for a story line then i may have to watch tomorrow. Also wouldn’t it be nice if she would have a storyline of her own? Like I would like to know more about her life at home, she had wonderful daughters.”

The R&B singer replied, “Can’t pimp your children out for two minute scenes forever. My whole family & my friends have shown up for me season after season on the show. & this bitch skates by having shown us nearly nothing. It’s a wonder she hasn’t scripted her own (yt) Karen-esq misconduct story sooner.”

Candiace also addressed Ashley in a separate tweet for coming after her husband. “And the other one… She is just following marching orders from White (yt) Karen. Two flops trying to make TV. And still a collective flop.”
