‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Is Willing To Reconcile with Janelle

On Sunday’s episode of Sister Wives: One-on-One special, Kody Brown says he is open to reconciling with Janelle Brown, but that would be a whole “new negotiation.”

During the TLC special, Kody and Janelle confirmed to fans that they had been separated for months. The mother of six told host Sukanya Krishnan, “Kody and I have separated and I’m happy, really happy.”

Kody made it clear during the episode that he isn’t happy that Janelle is living her best life.

Janelle has made it pretty clear to me that she’s enjoying her life without me.” But the Wyoming native admitted he was willing to make it work with his wife. “Oh yeah, absolutely. Yeah. But I won’t go to a place where I’m not respected because love doesn’t matter to me, respect matters to me.”

Despite Kody saying he doesn’t care about love when it comes to reconciling with his wife of more than 30 years, he said their split was “pretty stupid for people who love each other, huh?” When the family patriarch was asked where he sees things moving forward he didn’t seem willing to reconcile.

He said, “I want to fix it, yes, but that’s a whole new negotiation. We’re in a new place. Christine’s left. Janelle likes her. That’s like, why couldn’t you have been good sister wives when you were sister wives? That’s such a mess.”

Kody has had a number of issues with Janelle’s friendship with his ex-wife, Christine Brown.

When Janelle was told that Kody felt disrespected by her actions lately, she said the feeling was mutual.

She said, “I think it’s a two-way street there. I think if he had truly been watching out for me and my children, he would have figured out a way to make it work for the whole family instead of having his rules and hanging out with the wife, staying where he was respected and obeyed.”

A lot of Kody’s time during the pandemic was spent with his wife, Robyn, which had a lasting effect on his relationship with his other children. “I do [respect Kody], but I’m so mad with what’s happened with our kids that it’s very hard. I’m losing respect for him in that regard,” Janelle noted.

The ‘Becoming Sister Wives’ author, revealed that she found herself becoming indifferent to their relationship, and even felt there was no longer love there.

“At this point, no, it’s not. It’s duty. It’s commitment. It’s a faith that tells you you work it out and stick it out. I think if we both really sat down, we’d look at each other and say, ‘Really?’”

Kody and Janelle tied the knot in 1993 and share six children together — Logan, 28 Maddie, 27, Hunter, 25, Garrison, 24, Gabriel, 21, and Savanah, 18. After Christine left Kody in November 2021, a source close to the family said Janelle saw how happy she was and chose to leave, too.

“She sees how happy Christine is now that she’s ‘free’ from Kody and is strongly considering separating from him too. Christine and Janelle are very close and they have conversations about it.”

Kody admitted in a prior episode that his divorce from Christine had negatively affected his dynamic with Janelle to the point that she didn’t ‘respect’ him anymore.

“I’m struggling so much with this divorce. It’s probably poisoning my relationship with Janelle a little bit and definitely poisoning my relationship with Robyn. I feel like Janelle struggles to respect me. Or show me respect. It might be an unfair statement, I don’t know. Maybe it’s just the way that we argue. If you don’t respect me, don’t bother with the love. It just doesn’t work in my world.”

Sister Wives: One-On-One part 3 airs on January 8, 2023, at 10:00 pm ET, on TLC.
