‘RHOSLC’ Jen Shah Live Sentencing Updates

Follow All About The Tea for live updates on the sentencing of Real Housewives of Salt Lake City star Jen Shah.

What did Jen Shah Do?

The U.S Attorney’s office maintained that while Jen Shah portrayed herself on the show as a “wealthy and successful businessperson,” she was actually participating in a fraudulent telemarketing scheme that generated lead lists of innocent people, many of them elderly, for other members of the conspiracy to contact and scam.

“Jennifer Shah was a key participant in a nationwide scheme that targeted elderly, vulnerable victims,” U.S. Attorney Damian Williams said in a statement. “These victims were sold false promises of financial security but instead Shah and her co-conspirators defrauded them out of their savings and left them with nothing to show for it.”

The telemarketing scam worked by convincing elderly victims to purchase “so-called business services,” lying to the victims about how the services would help them generate an income and then continuing to pressure victims to purchase additional “so-called business services,” leaving many victims in debt.

When Will She be Sentenced?

Jen Shah arrived at the U.S. Southern District of New York Court in Manhattan and will appear in front of Judge Sidney Stein at 10 a.m. ET, Friday morning to learn her fate.

Jen Shah pulled up to the federal court this morning at about 8:20 a.m. ET, more than 90 minutes ahead of her scheduled sentencing.

The government has requested 10 years in prison while Shah’s lawyers are seeking a three-year term. Press play below to see Jen arrive at the courthouse in style. She’s dressed in light brown from head to toe, and her clothing appears to be expensive.

Jen Flaunted Her Stolen Goods

Since The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City debuted in 2020, Jen Shah has flaunted her wealth on the Bravo reality series by throwing lavish parties and buying expensive clothes.

It’s been a “Shah-mazing” ride: Following her March 2021 arrest, Shah insisted that she’s innocent and used as her tagline to Season 2: “The only thing I’m guilty of is being Shah-mazing.” Federal authorities used that line against Shah in sentencing papers, claiming it showed that she is mocking the system.

When Will She Turn Herself In

She will be allowed to self-surrender in about 90 days.

The telemarketing scam worked by convincing victims to purchase “so-called business services,” lying to the victims about how the services would help them generate an income and then continuing to pressure victims to purchase additional “so-called business services,” leaving many victims in debt.

The Plea Deal

As part of her plea deal, Shah pleaded guilty to one count of conspiracy to commit wire fraud and agreed to forfeit $6.5 million of proceeds traceable to the conspiracy and pay up to $9.5 million in restitution. She is also facing up to 30 years in federal prison. The charge of money laundering was dropped.

“I knew this was wrong. I knew people were harmed,” Shah said in court at her July 11 hearing. “I am so sorry.”

Live Updates

According to attorney, Ronald Richards, Jen delayed proceedings by “not coming into the courtroom on time.”
