Joy Behar Shares NSFW Story About Getting Fired From GMA
The View’s Joy Behar shared a raunchy story with her co-hosts as they were discussing the popularity of bachelor and bachelorette parties today.
The show’s moderator, Whoopi Goldberg, started off the conversation with a survey of what over 2000 adults thought about the pre-wedding rituals. As per the survey, most young adults thought that the parties before weddings should be more about “chilling out before the big day,” rather than “get wild at a strip club.”
The View’s moderator asked, “Who doesn’t want to party before the party?” Joy Behar chimed in, “Well no more strip clubs … there goes my backup career plan!” before telling the story of how she was taken to a male strip club after g was fired from Good Morning America.
The 80-year-old host said, “When I got fired from Good Morning America back in 1982 … they took me to Chippendales. That was their reward for firing me.”
Joy continued, “Who doesn’t like to watch a bunch of greasy guys and put money in their crotch practically? It’s not the classiest thing to do.”
Whoopi interrupted her co-host and gave her own view of bachelor and bachelorette parties. “None of it’s classy, but … I think they originally came about [because it was like] just sowing your last wild oat. That’s what it was supposed to be.”
Their fellow co-hosts, Alyssa Farah Griffin and Sunny Hostin, had different opinions on the matter. Alyssa said she doesn’t mind if her husband attends a bachelor party with strippers, while Sunny revealed that she has had a sexy cop show up at her own bachelorette party.
Hostin said, “My friends gave me a bachelorette party. I thought it was going to be a garden party. We played jazz music and someone knocked on the door and it was a man in a police uniform…” Sunny also said the experience was fun and the guy was “hot.”
While on the same topic, Sarah Haines weighed in and said that many of the parties’ themes depend on people’s ages. “It plays into the age you are when you get married. Where I come from, you get married at 23/24, and a lot of people fall into the traditions of the penis necklaces.” A shocked Sunny asked, “What do you mean penis necklaces?”
“I saw one at my sister’s wedding … you can’t unsee that picture. You have all this plastic jewelry that’s not classy,” Haines explained. She continued to say that as she has grown older, her idea of a bachelorette party has changed.
During the episode, the hosts also spoke about the dangers of various sports. Sunny shared that her son used to play football but decided to quit after he went through 6 months of physical therapy after an injury. She said, “It was a very hard thing for him to do because he loved doing it. And I don’t think it’s going to turn people away from the sport. It’s a big deal and it’s a $105 billion dollar industry.”
Whoopi, however, reminded her co-hosts that they don’t have control over where and when an injury can occur.
“The truth of the matter is that you could run and trip on the tennis court and pull a hamstring,” she added. The moderator then took a dig at Joy, “Somebody I know fell off a chair.”
Alyssa, 33 asked, “Was it Joy?” When the camera panned to Behar, she joked, “I’ll do it again if it makes you happy.”
Last March Joy Behar suffered a fall on set that was captured on live camera. Her co-hosts rushed to lift her up after she fell to the ground.
