Ryan Seacrest Shades Andy Cohen After NYE Beef
Ryan Seacrest tossed some shade in Andy Cohen’s direction on Tuesday’s episode of Live with Kelly and Ryan after the Bravo producer challenged him to a throwdown on New Year’s Eve. Ryan kicked off the first live show of the year by calling out Andy for dissing him on live TV.
Kelly admitted that she bounced back and forth between Ryan and Andy’s New Year’s Eve specials, as she shares a friendship with the Watch What Happens Live host. Ryan dished about his hosting experience, which included a strained exchange with the Bravo boss.
The American Idol personality shared — “It was funny because my big stage was right in front of Anderson and Andy. When I was not working, I was trying to get their attention.”
Ryan explained that the love fest was one-sided.
“’I just wanted to wave and say hi,” Ryan said. “They have a great show. And Anderson, the best.”
He continued — “He turns around and he says, ‘Have a good show.’ Class. Class.’”
Ryan then revealed — “Andy did not turn around.”
Kelly played peacemaker, assuring her co-host that he read the situation wrong.
“That’s not true. He said he was trying to get your attention!” she said.
Ryan’s shade comes after Andy challenged his NYE rival host to a fistfight.
Andy was interviewing actor/comedians, Jack Black and Kyle Glass, when he threw down the challenge. The duo was promoting their upcoming Las Vegas show when they joined Andy and Anderson, decked out in tuxes and top hats.
Anderson asked — “What’s it like performing in Vegas on New Year’s Eve? What’s an audience there like on New Year’s Eve versus other nights?”
“Well first and foremost they’re going to be drunk,” Jack said. “They’re going to be drunk as a skunky monkey so I guess that guy won’t be there.”
Jack asked Kyle — “Who’s the guy from the rivalry?”
Jack didn’t let his bandmate respond, instead naming Ryan, who was hosting a competing NYE special, Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve.
Jack continued amid Andy’s obvious shock — “Is this true what I hear, that there’s like beef going down between Cohen and Seacrest?”
The 53-year-old added — “Dude everyone’s talking about the beef.”
Anderson chimed in — “I heard that, too.”
Kyle quipped — “I got my money on Andy,” after Jack remarked — “You guys got a rivalry going.”
Andy jumped into the ruckus commenting — “We’re settling it tonight, at midnight on the main stage.”
He balled up his fists and asked — “Have you ever seen a Jewish man fight with his hands?”
Fans weighed in on the spectacle via social media as the dialogue unfolded.
One fan said — “I can’t believe I just witnessed Andy Cohen tell Jack Black that he’s gonna beat up Ryan Seacrest.”
Another person said — “The beef going down between Seacrest and Andy #CNNYE.”
A third chimed in — “Jack Black bringing up Andy’s feud with Ryan Seacrest and saying he’s #TeamAndy is exactly why #CNNNYE is supreme.”
