‘Sister Wives’ Polygamous Couple Nathan and Christine Collier Split

Polygamous couple, Christine and Nathan Collier, have called it quits following Sister Wives star, Kody Brown’s breakup from three of his wives. The TLC series featured the Colliers in an episode that aired during Season 8.

Nathan waged a three-year legal battle in U.S. District Court to legally wed Christine, his second wife. Nathan, who lives in Billings Montana, remains legally married to Victoria Collier.

“I can confirm that yes we have split at the end of July of this year,” Christine, 46, told The Sun.

The news comes after Kody revealed his breakup from second wife, Janelle, on the first part of the Sister Wives One on One special. Kody’s first wife, Meri, also confirmed that her spiritual marriage to Kody was over.

Christine cited “irreconcilable differences” as the reason for the pair’s breakup, but declined to share more details.

She told the outlet—”It’s personal. I’d rather not air that information (why they split).”

Nathan, 53, and Victoria, 49, legally wed in Dillon, South Carolina in 2000. Nathan spiritually tied the knot with Christine in 2007. In June 2015, Nathan attempted to secure a marriage license for his second marriage at the Yellowstone County Clerk of District Court in Montana. His application was denied.

Nathan’s legal effort to amend the state’s anti-polygamy laws made national news, after the group’s appearance on Sister Wives. The polygamist sought the change after the Supreme Court’s ruling on same-sex marriage, which occurred the same month. The judge shot down the Colliers’ case in March 2018, after a three-year legal fight.

United States Magistrate Judge Timothy J. Cavan stated in a court document, “Even after giving the Colliers the benefit of the substantial doubt that they have formulated a concrete plan to violate Mont. Code Ann. §§ 45-5-611 or 612, the Court finds that the Colliers have failed to demonstrate injury in fact because they have not shown a threat of prosecution or a history of enforcement, and therefore they do not have standing to challenge those criminal statutes.”

The Colliers were given two weeks to file written objections to the judge’s findings but never offered a follow-up argument.

Christine, who co-parented eight children with Nathan and Victoria, revealed that she’s currently in a “new relationship” but chose not to share details. She did reveal that she learned of the Sister Wivessplits through a friend, adding, “I was not friends with them, nor did we keep close afterward [the show].”

Christine noted, “Whatever is going on in their family … it’s their business. I try to stay out of other people’s business.”

The Browns visited the Colliers’ Montana home in an episode that aired in 2015. TLC filmed the two families chatting abut their plural marriages and riding ATVs with their kids on the family property.

A source spoke out about the pattern of  plural marriage breakups after Kody called his third wife, Christine, a “manipulator” on the tell-all special.

“All these polygamous families are falling apart, and the men are starting to see a pattern,” the insider said. “To have these women mock and do what they did publicly to Kody, gave these other women the power and the courage to walk away as well. It’s a big deal in the polygamy world right now.”

The snitch added—“The truth of the matter is, there’s a whole betrayal going on. Families are divided and broken up. Sister Wives started as bringing positive awareness to polygamy, not ruin this generation.”

The Sister Wives One on One special continues on January 1 at 10 pm ET on TLC.
