Whoopi Goldberg In Trouble Again For Doubling Down On Holocaust Remarks
Whoopi Goldberg repeated her sentiments about the Holocaust and Jews being a race during a recent interview, and she’s facing major backlash again.
While talking about the graphic novel “Maus,” which depicts Jewish people being tortured and murdered by Nazis during the Holocaust. Whoopi Goldberg, 67 said, “the Holocaust isn’t about race. No, it’s not about race.”
When co-host, Joy Beyhar, asked what it was about then, Whoopi responded, “It’s about man’s inhumanity to man. These are two white groups of people. The minute you turn it into race, it goes down this alley. Let’s talk about it for what it is, it’s how people treat each other,” Her comments made headlines and got her suspended for two weeks from The View after she faced tons of backlash from viewers.
Whoopi repeated her claims during a recent interview with The Sunday Times saying, “My best friend said, ‘Not for nothing is there no box on the census for the Jewish race. So that leads me to believe that we’re probably not a race.’”
The talk show’s moderator warned against believing the Nazis saw Jews as a race. “Yes, but that’s the killer, isn’t it? The oppressor is telling you what you are. Why are you believing them? They’re Nazis. Why believe what they’re saying?”
The Sister Act star explained that the Holocaust didn’t start out being about race, instead it was about people’s thinking. She stated, “Remember who they were killing first. They were not killing racial; they were killing physical. They were killing people they considered to be mentally defective. And then they made this decision.”
Many people have taken to Twitter to blast Whoopi Goldberg for doubling down on her claims and have even demanded she be fired from her hosting gig at The View.
One viewer tweeted, “she’s a disaster. who knew she was this antisemitic, i certainly didn’t before this past 6 months. just goes to show, when given enough time, the antisemites will simply tell you who they are.”
Another person wrote, “Whoopi Goldberg has continued her antisemitic bile, saying that ‘jews aren’t a race’ and that the Holocaust wasn’t racial, what a disgusting person she is. She should be fired from The View and never allowed to act again. Sickening.”
“Whoopi Goldberg continues to use the Holocaust as her punching bag. We told her that her comments harm us and she simply doesn’t care. I survived the Nazis and the Holocaust, so I’ll be damned if I let a comedy has-been, peddling a fake Jewish name get the better of me.” Someone else noted.
Another critic noted, “is now self-righteous about her bigotry and hatred, another idiot with a TV platform.”
A fan commented, “So, after supposed ‘apology’ earlier in year, Whoopi Goldberg doubles down on her vile remarks that the Holocaust was not about race, and instead ‘white on white’ violence. Someone get this ignorant fool off the air!”
“This is one of the times where I think someone should force Whoopi Goldberg to go to a Holocaust museum and learn about the Nuremberg laws.” A fourth person tweeted.
Another pointed out, “Whoopi is at it again, repeating the very same nonsense about the Holocaust she “apologized” for months ago! Whoopi is so ignorant she claims Nazi genocide was “not about race” even though Africans were also murdered as “racial inferiors” just like Jews!”
After Whoopi’s comments earlier this year, she tweeted an apology for the hurt she caused. “On today’s show, I said the Holocaust ‘is not about race, but about man’s inhumanity to man.’ I should have said it is about both.”
