‘Home Alone’ Fans Discovered Why The Family Forgot About Kevin
Fans of the classic movie, Home Alone, were shocked to finally find out why Kevin McCalister’s family left him at home alone, as they embarked on a trip to Paris.
Kevin, 8, who was played by a young Macaulay Culkin, was left home alone during the first scenes of the movie and he had to fend for himself. Fans of the movie just found out the reason why no one in the large family remembered Kevin was missing even at the airport.
One person on Reddit explained the family of 17 was so big that it was easy for one person to be forgotten. They theorized that when the family got into the two vans, it was easy for them to assume Kevin was in one of them.
The Redditor wrote, “When they counted people for the trip, they say there’s 17 people in total. An odd number between two vans means they will be split to eight and nine, and since Kevin was missing, both vans had eight people instead. This made each group assume that they were in the eight-people van, and not suspecting a thing.”
Another fan added in the comments that the headcount outside of the house made Kevin’s parents think that he was there but it was really the neighbor’s kid they counted.
“The neighbor’s chatty kid came over and talk to the McCallister’s kids, when Heather was instructed to do a headcount, he got counted as the 9th kid.” A third fan added, “The neighbor’s kid was in the van then left the van before it departed.”
That is not the only Home Alone revelation that happened this week. Another fan on TikTok revealed that Kevin’s dad, Peter, didn’t even have all the tickets by the time they got to the airport.
They shared a clip of Peter, who was played by John Heard, where he was collecting rubbish and putting it in a bin, and captioned it, “Been watching Home Alone all these years and did not know that the dad threw away Kevin’s ticket.”
Another fan pointed out that the milk that they had been asked to drink before they left spilled on Kevin’s ticket, that’s why it got thrown out. Home Alone fans even had an explanation as to why they didn’t look for Kevin on the plane.
“When they’re boarding the stewardess says ‘single seats only’ as they’re running late, so they didn’t sit with each other in coach,” one said.
