Super Sized Salon’s Jamie Lopez Dead After Heart Complications
Super Sized Salon star, Jamie Lopez, has passed away after experiencing heart complications in the hospital.
A source close to Jamie told TMZ that she had been hospitalized in Las Vegas and died over the weekend.
A rep for WE Tv said in a statement, “We regretfully announce, with great pain, the passing of The Founder & Owner of Babydoll Beauty Couture, The Legendary Jamie Lopez. We ask, on behalf of the Babydoll family, that you allow us time to process this tremendous loss.”
Reports say Jamie was preparing to film season 2 of Super Sized Salon before she passed away.
The 37-year-old became famous for designing her salon, Babydoll Beauty Couture, to service plus-sized women while she was confined to her bed. The show, Super Sized Salon, followed Jamie’s weight loss and highlighted the salon, its staff, and the customers they catered to. The reality TV star told Yahoo Beauty in 2017 about her salon which she deemed the world’s first plus-size salon.
“It makes me very upset to be mistreated because of my size, and not have a place where I can get beautiful. When women walk away from getting services done at my salon, I want them to feel beautiful, confident, and sexy.”
Lopez also told the outlet, “I was inspired by there being no place I could get my nails or hair done in Vegas that would accommodate my needs as a plus-size woman, and I decided it was time to make some changes for the plus-size women of the world.”
The WE Tv star’s co-workers shared a statement to Instagram saying, “We have suffered an extraordinary loss and appreciate the time and space to grieve in peace. Please keep our Babydoll family & team lifted in your heart and prayers.”
The Super Sized Salon series debuted this summer and also highlighted Jamie’s 400-pound weight loss from 846 pounds. During that time, Jamie had to learn to walk again. Fans responded to the sad news of Jamie’s passing all over social media with some positive and negative comments.
One fan tweeted, “Aw man. Jamie Lopez. I loved that show… always hoped one day when I was back in Vegas, I would go get my face beat by her Rest In Peace beautiful.”
Another fan added, “What?! I watched her show and was wishing the best for Jamie Lopez. My condolences to her family and friends.”
