Mama June’s Ex Geno Relapses Fresh Out Of Rehab
Mama June’s ex, Geno Doak, who she dated on and off for years, relapsed shortly after he left rehab.
Geno, 46, told TMZ that he relapsed last week on alcohol but he regrets it. Doak also told the outlet that the addict in him convinced him that a drink would be good for him, plus it wasn’t as bad as taking drugs. Geno also said that he wasn’t going to go back to rehab, instead, he will apply what he learned from his stay and continue going to AA meetings. Geno’s relapse comes after he spent 9 months at a rehab facility in South Carolina.
After completing his rehab stint, Geno received a certificate of completion. In 2019, both Doak and Mama June were arrested at a gas station over cocaine possession charges. As per TMZ, Mama June’s ex was sentenced to 16 months in Macon Community Corrections and two years probation after getting his plea deal.
Geno wasn’t put behind bars but was required to move from Florida to Alabama in 30 to 45 days when he was sentenced, but he failed to comply. Mama June pled not guilty, was sentenced to 100 hours of community service, and agreed to a bunch of rules including staying sober.
Since Geno failed to attend his community corrections program for the gas station incident, he still has an active arrest warrant from 2021. As per TMZ, the Mason County Sheriff said he wouldn’t pull Doak from the rehab program while he was in it. After Geno’s split with Shannon, she moved on and married Justin Stroud. Mama June has spoken about her marriage with Justin and says she is grateful for the person that she found.
During an episode of Mama June: Road To Redemption, she explained, “Justin is a lot different than Geno, Sugarbear, any other man who has been in my life. Honestly, he’s showin’ me how somebody can actually be treated good. He supports me in my recovery and whatever I wanna do. He doesn’t worry about my bank account. Like, he makes me extremely happy.”
She also said her relationship with Doak was detrimental during some of the hardest times in her life.
“I lost everything. I went through about $250,000 of dope [cannabis] in four and a half months. It was to the point that my dope people were concerned — they didn’t want to give me dope.”
