Today’s Savannah Guthrie Announces Big Career Move
Today show host, Savannah Guthrie, shared exciting news about her newest project during Thursday’s show.
The anchor gave fans a sneak peek at her new venture, which is scheduled to hit the airwaves next month. Savannah has teamed up with Drew Barrymore to create a new children’s series, ‘Princess Power,’ based on the actress’ book series, ‘Princesses Wear Pants.’ Savannah wrote the new series and Drew served as producer.
Carson Daly announced the news of the upcoming release of the animated series during his daily Pop Start segment, on Thursday. Savannah’s Today show colleagues gushed over her new show after seeing a preview. Savannah explained that the four main princess characters represent “young ladies in leadership.”
The anchor revealed a star-studded cast of voices behind the series and confirmed that ‘Princess Power’ will begin streaming on Netflix, in late January.
Hoda Kotb was especially excited to introduce the show to her two daughters, Haley, 5, and Hope, 3, commenting—”I’ve been looking for something for my girls to watch.”
Savannah said—“It’s cute, and they’re the right age group.”
Savannah’s co-host, Craig Melvin, cheered—”We are so proud of you!”
A surprise guest was announced earlier in the segment, shocking the Today show cast. Carlson revealed that pop icon, Janet Jackson, would be making an appearance to promote her new tour. The Today show team was left in the dark about the star’s scheduled Friday appearance.
On Monday, Savannah’s exciting news came after Hoda revealed a new twist in her own career. The journalist shared that the third season of her podcast, Making Space, would debut in January. Hoda’s co-host, Jenna Bush Hager, announced the news, telling viewers—”Oh my gosh, you guys, we have some incredible news.
She said—“Hoda’s podcast Making Space is back for its second season!”
“You guys, I’m so excited. I’ll tell you why I’m so excited,” Hoda said.”Every single person I’m interviewing is a spiritual or inspirational leader or teacher.”
She continued—“Some are friends of mine, some work in churches, some just work in life.”
Hoda added—“But it is like therapy. When you are done listening to these podcasts, you will have things you can do. You can watch how people overcame things and what tools they used. How did they do it, you know.”
The team called the new podcast season a “reset” for listeners.
