Todd and Julie Chrisley’s Surrender Date…They’ll Receive Special Treatment In Prison
Todd Chrisley and Julie Chrisley will have to turn themselves into the feds on January 15, 2023.
Todd Chrisley will serve his time at FPC Pensacola, while Julie will join convicted sex trafficker, Ghislaine Maxwell, at FCI Tallahassee. Both locations are in Florida.
As reported, Todd was sentenced to 12 years in prison — and Julie was given a 7-year sentence.
Todd and Julie were found guilty in June of conspiracy to defraud banks out of more than $30 million in fraudulent loans.
Christmas 2022 will be an emotional one for the Chrisleys, as the holiday will mark the last anniversary that the family will spend together for the next couple of years.
According to Radar Online, Todd and Julie will be able to stay in contact, despite being three hours away from each other. According to the outlet, they can write letters, send emails, and possibly mail each other packages while they serve their sentences.
“An inmate may be permitted to correspond with an inmate confined in any other penal or correctional institution if the other inmate is either a member of the immediate family or is a party or witness in a legal action in which both inmates are involved,” the Federal Bureau of Prisons’ website states.
Todd and Julie Chrisley must first seek approval from the respective prison wardens of each facility before they can begin communicating. Any mail communication between the couple must be “inspected and read by staff at the sending and receiving institutions.” They will also be prohibited from sealing any of their mail to each other.
Prisoners are generally prohibited from communicating with prisoners in other facilities unless they are either co-defendants or immediate family members.
Mail room unit managers have the power to deny the approval if there’s anything inappropriate with the correspondence between inmates from the same immediate family. If either Todd or Julie switches prisons, their communication approval or denial will follow them.
The Chrisleys will have access to the Trust Fund Limited Inmate Computer System (known as TRULINCS), which provides prisoners with limited access to send and receive electronic messages without having access to the internet.
“Normally, the approval of mail correspondence privileges will apply to electronic messages generated via TRULINCS. The approval of correspondence privileges for both inmates will remain in effect even if either is transferred within the Bureau. The unit team will forward a copy of the approved mail correspondence to the mail room and trust fund staff for processing,” the website states.
The prison that Todd will be assigned to looks like a college dormitory. Prisoners at FPC Pensacola, which is a minimum-security facility, generally do not stay locked up in tiny prison cells. Most sleep in bunk beds in dormitories.
And while prisoners cannot leave the facility and cannot use cellphones, they can use a well-stocked library, a gym and a running track. They can play racquetball, volleyball and horseshoes. They can even gather in the prison theater for movie night.
FPC Pensacola is adjacent to Eglin Air Force Base, so many inmates work there, doing landscaping or other chores.
The prison where Julie Chrisley will be housed in Tallahassee, Florida is also a low-security facility. She can take part in yoga classes, talent shows, watch movies, play sports like softball, basketball and volleyball. Julie will also be able to try hobbies like: painting, leather-work, art and ceramics.
The list of apprenticeships available at the facility include: electrician, baker, horticulturist, plumber and cosmetologist.
Again the couple will have to surrender to the federal bureau of prisons on January 15, 2023.
