‘Sister Wives’ Janelle Brown Confirms Separation From Kody In  Bombshell Tell-All, Plus Christine Gets Exposed

Kody Brown and second wife, Janelle Brown, dropped a bombshell during the Season 17 Sister Wives’ tell-all one-on-one special.

After months of rumors, Janelle Brown confirms she’s split from husband Kody Brown after 30 years of marriage during the Season 17 tell-all reunion.

“I think if we both really sat down, we’d look at each other say, ‘Really?’” Janelle tells host Sukanya Krishnan. “We’ve been separated for several months.”

Kody Brown also confirms the separation, “Yes, we are separated,” he tells the host.

The patriarch elaborated about the former couple’s rocky relationship.

Janelle has made it pretty clear to me that she’s enjoying her life without me,” Kody says in the clip, which was released after the season 17 finale on Sunday, December 11.

Janelle, 53, and Kody, 53, got married in 1993 and share six adult children together — Logan, 28, Madison, 27, Hunter, 25, Garrison, 24, Gabriel, 21, and Savannah, 18.

The breakup comes after a tense year for the Brown family in the wake of Christine Brown’s divorce from Kody and her decision to move away from Arizona, to Utah.

Janelle is Kody’s second wife to leave him in the past year. Kody’s now officially in a monogamous relationship with his legal wife, Robyn Brown, since he doesn’t consider himself spiritually married to Meri Brown anymore.

Christine Brown announced her split from Kody in November 2021 after 25 years together. News of the separation came ahead of the TLC hit’s 16th season.

Christine weighs in on Janelle and Kody’s strained relationship during the tell-all special.

“For Janelle, I think that she’s frustrated, and she’s so hurt,” Christine tells the host. “And that man that she was married to — she realizes that he’s totally different. But she’s different too.”

In season 17 of the TLC reality series, fans witnessed the explosive fallout from Christine’s decision to leave Kody and move to Utah. While Meri and Robyn Brown supported Kody’s one-sided views on the demise of his marriage to ChristineJanelle remained neutral and showed Christine compassion.

“It’s been a bit of a civil war. The whole family in a way,” Kody said during Sunday’s finale. “I’m looking at Janelle wondering whose side she’s on.”

During the Season 17 finale that aired on December 11, Janelle put her foot down after Kody wanted her to chose him (and the rest of the plural family) over her kids.

“To be honest with you, I really don’t know if I want to do the work. It feels like I’m being forced to choose between my children and this group,” Janelle told Meri, 50, Robyn, 43, and Kody. “I don’t feel like my children are welcome.”

Kody backpedaled and said the boys would be included for the holidays. Janelle was hesitant because Kody previously told her that Gabriel and Garrison had to apologize for their past actions in order to be invited to his home. Kody’s pissed with the boys for confronting Robyn on the role she played in fracturing their family during COVID-19 quaratine.

“At the end of the day, I think I’d rather be with my kids. [And] you’re getting upset with me,” Janelle told Kody. She then confessed to the group, “There’s a strong pull to just run away and do the easy thing.”

Also, the drama-filled tell-all preview teased Christine’s alleged role in keeping Meri and Kody distant and the patriarch’s tension with the whole family will be addressed.

Part one of the Sister Wives Tell-All special airs on TLC, Sunday December 18, at 10 p.m. ET.
