‘The View’ Fans BLAST Whoopi Goldberg For Snubbing Joy Behar

Monday’s episode of The View began with Whoopi Goldberg making an announcement in which she forgot to mention her long-time co-host, Joy Behar.

During the episode, Whoopi mentioned some of her co-hosts who weren’t at the table that day. There were only four hosts instead of five since Joy Behar, Sara Haines, and Sunny Hostin were not in the studio. Instead, Whoopi, Anna Navaro, and Alyssa Farah Griffin hosted the show alongside ABC News’ Juju Chang.

Goldberg began the episode by saying, “ Hello hello, welcome to The View! Sara and Sunny are not here today, as you can see. But co-anchor of ABC News’ Nightline, Juju Chang, is our guest co-host today. Welcome to the table!”

When Whoopi didn’t mention Joy’s name, fans hopped on Twitter to slam her for the insensitive move. One fan said, “Ummm, looks like Joy’s not at the table, either, but Whoopi failed to mention her. What’s up w/that???” Another said, “No mention of #JoyBehar being absent, that’s not right Whoopi.” A third fan called out the show for allowing so many of the hosts to be absent. “And why is Sunny, Sara, & Joy off today?!? That’s too many women from #TheView taking a day off!”

Joy Behar

Other fans took to Twitter to explain the possible reason why Joy was missing from Monday’s show. One fan said, “Joy is typically off on Mondays,” while another pointed out, “She’s been taking Mondays off this season.” Fans might have forgotten about Behar’s off day because she was on the show last Monday. Like Whoopi, who takes the day off on Fridays, Joy takes her days off on Mondays. Behar had stepped in for Whoopi as the moderator during the episode, but it didn’t go as smoothly as she thought.

Behar was left stunned when her phone began ringing during the show and she couldn’t stop it. Joy turned to her co-star Sara Haines for help, but she also couldn’t turn the phone off.

“Oh my God, turn it off. Stop it! And why does Siri talk to me in the middle of nowhere?” Joy exclaimed. Sara waved the phone in Joy’s face in an effort to get her facial recognition to work but it was of no use.  A fed-up Sunny Hostin took matters into her own hands and walked up to her co-hosts and took the phone from them and walked off-set. She later returned with a strained smile on her face to continue with the show.
