‘Sister Wives’ Fans Slam Kody Brown After Son Gabe Breaks Down In Tears

Sister Wives fans have been putting Kody Brown on blast after Sunday’s episode featured his son, Gabe, breaking down in tears over his father forgetting his birthday.  

Kody and Robyn Brown contracted COVID-19 in October 2021, about a month after Kody’s third wife, Christine, left the marriage and moved to Utah. The show documented the couple’s ordeal, which included Robyn receiving additional testing at a local hospital. Kody reached out to Gabe, one of the children he shares with second wife, Janelle, to find out more about how he managed his own bout with COVID. 

Kody happened to call his son on his birthday, as Gabe explained during the episode.

“I didn’t remind him that it was my birthday because I wanted to see if he remembered,” Gabe told the cameras, before becoming emotional. “And he didn’t. So to him, it was just a phone call just asking me about COVID.”

“It was a lot worse than just a phone call for me,” he added, before breaking down in sobs. 

Gabe added that his father tried to connect with him to wish him a happy birthday a few hours later. He shared that the phone exchange was the “last time” he ever spoke to his father. While the episode did not address Kody’s response, fans had plenty to say about the sad incident. 

Fans sounded off on Reddit, expressing sympathy for Gabe and disgust for Kody. 

One user wrote—“I literally had to look down from the tv I felt so sad for him, it felt wrong to watch him be so vulnerable like that.”

Another added—“I’m sickened over that scene… I have very challenging relationships with my parents (long divorced), but I cannot fathom either forgetting my birthday nor any of my siblings. Kody is SUCH an a******.”

Kody has 18 children, including six with Janelle. The episode also featured Janelle speaking about Kody’s estranged relationships with their sons after his strict COVID protocols divided the plural family. 

The beatdown continued on Twitter, as fans reacted to the emotional confessional interview.

One fan tweeted—“Gabe brown crying is devastating. You can feel the heartbreak and sadness in his voice. I can’t imagine Janelle as a mother watching it. How can you love a man who treats his kids like this?”

Another wrote—“As a mom my heart breaks watching Gabe. His dad doesn’t bother with him until he needs something to help his preferred family…& on Gabe‘s bday which he didn’t even remember. Freaking awful.” 

A viewer added—-“My heart is shattered for Gabe  Just when I think Kody can’t sink lower.” 

One person pointed out—“Gabriel had covid. So Kody calls for advice. On Gabe‘s BIRTHDAY and forgets such a shitty dad. Gabe will be an amazing dad one day…because he will know what NOT to do thanks to Kody.”

Another said—“OMG poor Gabe! Kody forgets his birthday but cries because he misses Aurora who is downstairs! Unbelievable! Gosh I hope Janelle left him!”

A third chimed in—“OH SHIT!!! Kody called Gabe on his birthday and poor Gabe thought it was gonna be about his birthday and all Kody wanted to know was how bad his COVID had been when he had it!  oh my heart!”
