False Alarm — Mia Thornton Did NOT Quit ‘RHOP’
Mia Thornton, who recently hinted in a cryptic social media message that she was moving on from the Real Housewives of Potomac, has revealed the real truth.
Mia took to social media after her explosive fight with co-star, Wendy Osefo, writing — “For the sake of my children, my family, friends, staff, and business partners, I have to move on.”
Her comment sparked lots of fan chatter and a debate over whether or not Mia would really walk away from the show. Mia deleted her Twitter account after she was slammed with backlash.
She later returned to the platform to share a pointed message.
“Reactivated to say, My actions towards Wendy was [sic] intolerable,” Mia tweeted Wednesday, after shutting down her account.
She wrote — “It’s unfortunate that you will attack my family, friends, and my businesses based on an edited tv show. While I was committed to drama and entertainment I must do what’s best for [my] brand & partners. Much love, Mia.”
Mia offered a clearer explanation last week during an appearance on HollywoodLife’s podcast, Pay Attention Puh-Lease!
The Bravo star explained — “I, by all means, wouldn’t go to social media to announce that I’m leaving the show, right? But I was making an announcement that I just don’t have time to feed into everyone’s comment and opinions because I have to do what’s best my businesses, my partners, my investors, my kids, my family, my friends who are all heavily affected. You know, just because I can accept public scrutiny — I signed up for it, right? — doesn’t necessarily make it fair for people to go out and attack my partners. I have to do what’s best for them because that’s just the type of person that I am, and I just don’t think it’s fair.”
Mia was asked to clarify if her comments had anything to do with a potential plan to leave the series. She confirmed that Bravo would have to make that decision.
She responded — “[Bravo’s] going to have to fire me [for me to leave the show].”
The altercation between the RHOP stars exploded during a dinner at Cynthia Bailey’s ex-husband, Peter Thomas’ Bar One restaurant, during a cast trip to Miami. Peter inserted himself in the drama when he dished to Mia that he had beef with Wendy over a Nigerian lounge business deal gone wrong.
Mia, 38, confronted Wendy, 38, over Peter’s claims and things quickly escalated. Wendy attacked Mia’s husband and accused her of sleeping with Peter. The co-stars engaged in an explosive screaming match, firing insults back and forth. Mia threw a drink in Wendy’s face and struck her co-star with her Louis Vuitton purse before security stepped in to restrain the women.
Robyn Dixon, Gizelle Bryant, and Mia all blamed Karen Huger for doing nothing to “diffuse the situation” in a subsequent episode.
“I do feel like you didn’t try to diffuse the situation,” Robyn told Karen.
Karen Huger, 59, clapped back, “Girl my a– was trying to get the f-ck up out of here. Y’all were not sitting between the two of them. Girl, you know I can’t fight. No.”
The Real Housewives of Potomac airs Sundays at 9 pm ET on Bravo.
