‘Sister Wives’ Kody Brown Blindsides Janelle, Hints He Wants A Divorce

Kody and Janelle Brown sit down to hash out their fractured relationship on the upcoming episode of Sister Wives.

“I’m not someone who throws the towel in on a marriage,” Kody’s second wife says in a preview clip of Sunday’s episode. “.’”

Kody, 53, and Janelle, 53, spiritually wed in 1993. The couple’s relationship became rocky during the COVID-19 pandemic, as the duo clashed over Kody’s strict protocols. The pair later struggled to get their relationship back on track, amid Kody’s breakup with third wife, Christine.

“I don’t think you and I know how to be real about things with each other,” Kody tells Janelle in the sneak peek, as they discuss their plans for the holiday. “You gotta know it too. There’s something fundamentally wrong here. Is this just what the human condition is?”

Janelle, who has openly supported Christine’s decision to cut ties with Kody, points out that they “had a functional marriage for a long time.”

“You’re my best friend. You’re the person I want to tell everything to,” Janelle adds.

Kody and Janelle share six children, Logan, 28, Madison, 27, Hunter, 25, Garrison, 24, Gabriel, 21 and Savannah, 17. Janelle shares that she believes that the marriage might need a “reset” due to their children leaving the nest.

“It’s almost like we’re on the cusp of this empty nest thing and it feels like we need to do a reset,” Janelle says, to which Kody replies, “I don’t know.”

Janelle opens up about the situation in a confessional spot, telling cameras — “I just feel like I have to do everything I can to make this work. I’m not even sure it’s possible to come back from where we are.”

Kody admits that he doesn’t want his decades-long marriage to Janelle to end in the same fashion as his messy split from Christine.

Kody confesses in a personal interview—“It’s not safe enough for me to say, here, ‘Hey, honey, I’m broken-hearted because of this divorce, and I need you to help me heal, please.’”

Janelle clarifies that while she still has “so much affection” for Kody, she isn’t sure if she’d call it “love.”

Christine Brown

Rumors have been circulating for months that Janelle has since walked away from her spiritual marriage.

A source recently told The Sun that Christine was “100 percent” the person who “forced” Janelle to leave the Sister Wives patriarch.

Janelle had no real reason to leave until Christine pointed it out to her,” the insider claimed.

The snitch clarified that Kody and Janelle’s split began “a year or two years ago during COVID.”

“COVID created a lot of [the separation]. It gave the sister wives comfort to know that they could be on their own. Christine was the ringleader in showing that they don’t need Kody,” the insider said.

“With all certainty, the final straw was in May or June,” the tipster added. “It was in the beginning of summer where it’s been completely dissolved between Janelle and Kody.”

Sister Wives airs on Sundays at 10 pm, ET, on TLC.
