Kim Kardashian is being hit with backlash after photos of her 9-year-old daughter, North, wearing a strange leather face mask resurfaced amid her controversial stance regarding the Balenciaga BDSM scandal. North was photographed alongside her mom wearing black and white polka-dotted pants, an oversized black t-shirt, and a leather mask that hid her entire face.

The 42-year-old mom of four is facing public outrage for allowing her daughter to wear a face covering that many claim resembles a “gimp mask” commonly used in BDSM.

The blowback comes only days after the Keeping Up With the Kardashians alum confirmed that she would not be ending her relationship with the fashion house, despite the company’s release of an ad campaign that featured children holding teddy bears in bondage gear. One photo included documents that pertained to a Supreme Court case that ruled on federal laws relating to child pornography.

The fallout from the disturbing campaign resulted in a public outcry calling for a boycott of the brand. Kim Kardashian, model, Bella Hadid, and actress, Nicole Kidman, who all model for the company, were slammed by fans demanding that the women take public stands against the fashion house.

Kim finally stated that she was “shocked and appalled” by the horrifying images, but did not commit to cutting ties with Balenciaga. The reality star stated that she “believes Balenciaga understands the seriousness of the issue.”

Kim added that she was ‘re-evaluating her relationship’ with the fashion house “based off its willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with” — but that didn’t cut it with furious social media fans.

Kim addressed the scandal on Sunday, writing — “I have been quiet for the past few days, not because I haven’t been shocked and outraged by the recent Balenciaga campaigns, but because I wanted an opportunity to speak to their team to understand for myself how this could have happened.”

“As a mother of four, I have been shaken by those disturbing images. The safety of children must be held with the highest regard and anything against it should have no place in our society – period.”

“I appreciate Balenciaga’s removal of the campaigns and apology. In speaking with them, I believe they understand the seriousness of the issue and will take the necessary measures for this to never happen again. As for my future with Balenciaga, I am currently re-evaluating my relationship with the brand, basing it off their willingness to accept accountability for something that should have never happened to begin with – and the actions I am expecting to see them take to protect children.”

The public backlash only intensified after the images of North wearing the “gimp mask” resurfaced. Fans, who called the ensemble “concerning,” “creepy,” and “scary,” blasted the reality star for allowing her minor daughter to wear the face covering.

One person commented—“People really expected Kim Kardashian to condemn Balenciaga… when she let them put nine-year-old North West in a gimp mask for Fashion Week last month?”

Another person tweeted—“You let Balenciaga dress North in a gimp mask… You didn’t see anything wrong with that? This is seriously sick and ignorant on your part.”

A Twitter user asked — ’”As a mother-of-four?” Didn’t you have North in a Balenciaga gimp mask at Fashion Week?’”

Another chimed in—“This is a woman who put North in a gimp mask last month for Fashion Week. Did we expect anything else from her?”

While some people claimed that North’s face covering was a Balenciaga product, others alleged that the garment was part of her father, Kanye West’s collection, Yeezy Season Nine. Both Kim and Kanye have been snapped wearing similar face coverings, over the years.
