Wendy Williams Lost ‘$10 Million’ Salary One Month After Talk Show Exit
Wendy Williams was cut off from her “$10 million” annual salary following her abrupt exit from her talk show, The Wendy Williams Show. Wendy’s ex-husband, Kevin Hunter, recently filed for the resumption of his monthly payments from the popular host, per their divorce agreement, according to bombshell court docs obtained by The U.S. Sun.
Wendy’s lawyer pushed back at Kevin’s demand, pointing out that her client had not brought in an income since October 2021, only one month after the debut of the final season of the popular talk show. The show carried on without Wendy for the entire season as she battled multiple health issues.
“On October 15, of 2021 plaintiff was informed by Talk WW that her contract was being suspended and that no compensation shall accrue or be payable to plaintiff for the duration of plaintiff’s disability and incapacity,” Wendy’s attorney wrote.
Wendy’s attorney cited the divorce Settlement Agreement, which both parties signed in January 2020.
“If, for any reason, [Plaintiffs] contract with Talk WW is not renewed and/or is otherwise suspended, canceled or terminated and [Plaintiff] does not have any other television show being aired and paying her an equivalent salary, [Defendant] understands and agrees that all Severance Payment shall be subject to either termination or modification,” the lawyer wrote, citing the divorce agreement.
The former TV host’s attorney went on to note that her client had not received a salary from Talk WW since October 2021.
She wrote — “she presently has no other television show being aired and paying her any income, let alone an equivalent salary.”
Wendy was reportedly raking in $10 million a year, or $55k per episode as host of The Wendy Williams Show.
In January, Wells Fargo froze Wendy’s bank accounts over a concern that she was allegedly a “victim of undue influence and financial exploitation.” Wendy vehemently denied the claim. In May, news broke that Wendy had been placed in a permanent financial guardianship.
In August, Wendy checked into rehab for severe alcoholism after several boozy public incidents. The chat show diva previously claimed that she was living a sober lifestyle.
“Alcohol has been a real struggle for her over the past several years. She is battling severe alcohol abuse mixed with serious health issues,” one insider alleged at the time.
The tipster added—“She was being treated for “extreme alcohol abuse. She has had numerous doctors who have told her for years ‘If you drink, you’ll die.’ She never really wanted to stop and the people around her in New York allowed her to keep drinking.”
In June, Wendy’s production company, Debmar-Mercury, announced her show’s cancellation and their plan to have former guest host, Sherri Shepherd, launch her own show in Wendy’s time slot.
