‘RHOP’ RECAP: Mia Blasts Karen For Not Having Her Back During Wendy Altercation
Welcome back to a brand-new episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac! We’re at dinner where Mia Thornton and Wendy Osefo just got into a heated altercation! As Mia and Wendy are being separated, Ashley Darby acknowledges that Mia’s actions were completely unnecessary, and Gizelle Bryant claims both sides were unnecessary. Mia calls Gordon Thornton in the car and asks for a plane ticket home as Jacqueline Blake sits by her side. Wendy’s asking for a ticket home to producers and is adamant about staying away from Mia. Wendy tells producers “F*ck this professor sh*t. Before that, I’m Wendy!” Karen Huger checks on Mia in the car, and before you know it, Karen’s being blamed for not choosing sides.
Karen urges Mia to stay and Mia claims it’s not that serious to her, but soon, she tells Karen that she didn’t have her back. Karen reiterates that two wrongs don’t make a right and Mia sticks with the story that Wendy was talking ish about her. Mia asks Karen what world she lives in and Karen tells Mia, “Y’all cancel each other out,” before realizing she’s losing her temper and walking away. In Karen’s confessional, she points out how Mia didn’t have her back when she invited Charrisse Jordan-Jackson to Karen’s birthday weekend. Jacqueline suggests they take a moment and chill in the car, while back at the table, Karen asks if it’s “Happy Birthday” to her, yet. Gizelle and the table begin singing “Happy Birthday” as Gizelle’s dessert comes out.
Karen points out that Gizelle has a bottomless stomach as Gizelle offers the table some of her sweets. Ashley asks where Wendy is as Gizelle makes it a point to state she’d like to check on Mia. Karen asks Gizelle to give Mia a moment and Robyn Dixon feels that Karen didn’t do enough to de-escalate the situation. Karen defends herself by stating that she was trying to get out of the way and the other ladies weren’t seated in the middle of the brawl. Karen claims she can’t fight as Ashley checks on Wendy. Ashley informs Wendy that Mia’s considering going home and Wendy thinks Mia should go home. Wendy thinks Mia committed assault and Ashley agrees while pointing out that Mia also swung her bag at Wendy.
Ashley thought Mia’s actions were too much, while back at the table, the ladies wrap up to leave. Wendy doesn’t think she did anything wrong, but when Ashley asks how she feels about returning to the house, Wendy’s not sure she can handle the sight of Mia. Wendy tells Ashley that Mia’s glad Wendy wore her wet n wavy hair because if she’d worn her straight hair, it’d been a different story. Ashley laughs as the ladies get in their cars to head back to the house. Wendy, Karen, Charrisse, and Ashley ride together as Robyn asks Mia how she’s doing. Mia tells the ladies that Gordon booked her flight for 8:30 AM and Robyn seems disappointed. Karen tells Wendy about Mia cursing her out and reiterates that she’s not changing colors for anyone.
Jacqueline (dumb a**) says she feels like Karen’s the only one who could’ve diffused the situation and Gizelle jumps in claiming Karen didn’t debunk anything Wendy said. Gizelle states that when Karen straddles the fence, she shows the ladies that she truly has no one’s side. Robyn states Karen wanted to keep her hands clean, and Mia claims she sees clearly now. *rolls eyes* The ladies arrive back at the house and Robyn wonders where Candiace Dillard Bassett is. Gizelle mumbles that Candiace is the least of her thoughts before heading downstairs. Gizelle asks Jacqueline how she’s holding up, and Jacqueline thinks Wendy’s in a position as a professor and that everyone should listen to her. Jacqueline draws the comparison that Mia’s a boss and in the same situation, and that maybe the two women bump heads because they’re so much alike.
Wendy arrives back at the house and Charrisse joins the other ladies downstairs as Gizelle inquires about Wendy’s sleeping arrangements. Charrisse doesn’t know but Ashley helps Wendy pack up and leave the house for the night. Mia feels better about the situation for now as Gizelle sarcastically giggles at her excitement for tomorrow. After a disastrous dinner, the ladies are taking it easy the next morning as the food’s being prepared — Ashley’s working out and Robyn’s chatting on the phone with her son. Karen’s getting ready for the day as Gizelle and Charrisse eat outside.
Charrisse wonders if Wendy’s coming back as Ashley gets some food. Gizelle asks Ashley why she was so upset, and Gizelle makes a statement that Ashley’s lucky she went to the bathroom during Candiace and Monique Samuels’s altercation. Charrisse jumps in that Ashley’s being contradicting and it’s clear now that this is all a setup. Ashley doesn’t think she did anything wrong and Gizelle brings up the statement Ashley wrote on Monique’s behalf. Before anything more can happen, the rest of the ladies meet downstairs and Ashley wonders where Candiace is. Candiace is getting ready upstairs and we get a flashback of Candiace arriving and getting the tea from Robyn.
Candiace thinks Mia should be the one to leave and the ladies give Karen warm love for her birthday. Gizelle asks what the plans are for the day and Mia lays out the birthday dinner for Karen as a nail tech is coming to fix Mia’s broken nails. Karen wonders why she didn’t utilize the manicurist for everyone, and soon, Gizelle and the ladies go outside for a swim. Candiace joins the ladies and Mia gives the ladies directions for the day as Candiace sits off to the side. Mia’s nail tech comes as Karen, Ashley, and Candiace talk on the side. Candiace hates that Wendy’s being ostracized, and although Karen hates the words Wendy said, Candiace gets upset that no one cares that Wendy’s missing. Jacqueline, Robyn, and Charrisse chat in the car as Candiace gets emotional at Robyn’s hypocrisy.
Candiace gets triggered as Robyn wonders why Candiace is crying. Ashley, Karen, and Candiace FaceTime Wendy in order to convince her to attend Karen’s pool party. Wendy’s been crying all night and even Candiace gets emotional as she tells Wendy she deserves to be there. Wendy accepts Karen’s invitation, and it looks like there’s more drama to come. Karen goes and tells Mia immediately that she invited Wendy to her party, and although Mia claims she’s okay with it, I can tell a storm is brewing. Mia tells Karen that she can have brunch with Wendy but not to bring Wendy to the pool party. Mia is claiming to be the victim and Karen makes sure Mia’s not talking to her directly. Mia backs down as she stands firm that Wendy can’t come. Karen calls Wendy back and Ashley and Karen step outside to plan something separate for Karen.
Ashley knows she and Candiace have their own issues but are willing to put things to the side to check on Wendy. Karen tells the ladies it’s not shot o’clock time and that Candiace and Ashley are tagging along. Candiace tells Robyn she’ll talk to her later, but Robyn’s taken aback by Candiace’s attitude. The ladies get into different cars and Jacqueline tells Mia about the girls’ plans to check on Wendy. Mia tells Ashley and Candiace that she’s kicking them out of her vacation home and goes back to the car. Ashley calls Mia petty and it’s clear the shade-fest is far from over. Candiace and Ashley wonder what gave Mia the authority to kick them out and claim they aren’t leaving the premises.
Ashley runs to the bathroom as Candiace and Karen have small talk. When Ashley comes back, she reads a message that she sent to Mia. Ashley calls Mia a “rachet a** h*e” (my sentiments exactly). The rest of the ladies arrive at the beach and Gizelle points out that she caught Jacqueline and Mia in the shower together. Robyn asks if they’ve ever got it on and the two ladies deny being intimate. Jacqueline feels like their friendship isn’t in competition with each other and Wendy meets Karen, Ashley, and Candiace at a restaurant to catch up.
Ashley compliments Wendy’s Versace attire, and after, Wendy orders a drink from the waiter. Ashley asks how Wendy’s feeling and Wendy replies that she’s hurt because she doesn’t feel anyone has the right to violate her personal space. Wendy is shocked that Mia threw a drink at her over Peter Thomas and the entire table laughs in agreement. Keeping it real, Wendy tells the table that Peter told her about previous trips he took with Mia and Gordon, and apparently, Mia did some snake ish to Peter’s girlfriend at the time. Wendy wants to know when Peter became Mia’s brother since Peter claims he stopped hanging with the Thorntons. Goodness, the mess is getting messier!
Ashley acknowledges that Mia didn’t say all that and begins to believe Wendy due to how erratic Mia behaved at dinner. Mia points out Ashley’s text message and Mia claims she’s tired of being nice. Charrisse wants to have fun and texts Ashley on Mia’s behalf. Ashley tells Wendy about Mia trying to kick them out of the house and Wendy thinks Mia’s on a power trip. Ashley reads the response and Candiace immediately knows Charrisse sent the message. Mia claims she doesn’t easily forgive and soon uses her trauma as a coping mechanism. Gizelle wonders if they’re still throwing Karen’s birthday party and Gizelle suggests that Mia talks to Karen before canceling the party. The ladies cheers to more petty sh*t and try to twerk while failing miserably.
Candiace and the ladies finish their lunch as Candiace gets excited and invites Wendy to the studio with Trina. The ladies on the beach get some young things to take some pictures of them and Robyn’s getting too touchy feeling with one of them. Ashley hugs Wendy and wishes Candiace good luck with Trina. Ashley asks Karen how she thinks the lunch went and Karen thinks neither Mia nor Wendy will listen to each other. Arriving at the studio, Wendy asks Candiace if she’s nervous. Candiace isn’t nervous but ready to get started. We see Trina looking amazing as they fan-girl out and hug Trina. Candiace reiterates how she got in contact with Trina, and we see Candiace reiterate the tumultuous trip to Trina.
Candiace admits being in the studio is the highlight of her trip and continues telling Trina how grateful she is. Trina plays the song and her part for Candiace and Candiace is amazed by the process! Wendy is supporting in the background — it’s good to see real friends support one another. Trina and Candiace hug, and Trina’s happy that Candiace is getting a fresh start and around those who will always lift her up. Wendy’s proud of watching Candiace and the ladies leave and scream outside! Wendy wants to slither in the video, and we get a flashback of a slithering Wendy.
Once Karen arrives back at the house, she calls Ray Huger as he wishes her “Happy Birthday,” and she gushes over the flowers he sent her. Ashley checks in with her kids as Karen gets stopped by Gizelle. Gizelle tells Ashley and Karen about the good time on the beach as Mia invites Karen into her and Jacqueline’s room. Jacqueline tries to mediate, and Mia thinks Karen is straddling the fence. Mia’s upset that Karen didn’t check on her.
Karen continues saying she doesn’t do that, and Mia’s asking for loyalty but Karen’s not good with blind loyalty. Ashley tells Charrisse and Gizelle about checking on Wendy; Karen asks Mia if she wants her there. Mia tells Karen about canceling her birthday party. Karen says she’s good and doesn’t need anything else. Mia claims she arranged for a private cabana but when Karen checked on Wendy, she inadvertently picked a side. Karen calls Mia childish as she leaves her room and Jacqueline states how Mia and Karen aren’t friends anymore. Whew, what a show!
