Meri Brown sounds off about how Christine Brown’s split from Kody Brown affected her life, in the next episode of Sister Wives.

“As the news about Christine leaving has been more public, and has spread, more and more people know about it,” Meri explains in a sneak peek preview of Sunday’s episode.

Kody’s first wife adds — “It shocks me how mean people are.”

Meri, who shares only a platonic relationship with Kody, claims that she’s being pressured to follow in Christine’s footsteps.

“These people, like, come at me. And they’re just like, ‘Why can’t you be strong like Christine? Why don’t you leave Kody?’” Meri says in the upcoming episode. “It frustrates me, because you know what, Christine has her own value regardless of Kody. I have my own value regardless of Kody.”

Kody and Meri tied the knot in 1990. He spiritually wed Janelle in 1993 and Christine, one year later. Robyn joined the family in 2010. In 2014, Kody divorced Meri to legally marry Robyn, which enabled him to adopt her children from her previous marriage.

Meri and Kody’s relationship crashed and burned after Meri’s romance with an online catfish rocked the family, after the divorce. Meri was filmed threatening to leave the Browns but ultimately hung in there after discovering that her online beau was a woman. The catfish scandal made headlines for months, in 2015.

Kody later described his relationship with Meri as “amicable” but “estranged,” and admitted that he felt no attachment to the spiritual marriage. Earlier in the season, Kody even suggested that Meri move to Utah to take over her family’s inn, after the passing of Meri’s mother, Bonnie.

Kody actually said to me the other day, he said, ‘Why don’t you just move up there?’ So I’m like, ‘Uhh, that was not my intention,’” Meri said, in a personal interview. “I told him I didn’t want to. I told him I had no intention of doing that, and he was kind of surprised. He’s like, ‘Oh, really?’ I guess I’m just still in this place with him or he’s in this place where he thinks the point of me buying this was to get away and that saddens me a lot.”

Kody stated that he didn’t even consider himself married to Meri, earlier in the season.

“I don’t really consider myself married to Meri,” he told cameras. “If she wanted to move on and marry another, she wouldn’t get an argument from me.”

Meri and Robyn have been openly critical of Christine’s decision to leave the plural marriage, but Janelle has been her pal’s rock throughout the emotional process.

“I’ll always be grateful to Janelle for how amazing she’s been during all of this,” Christine tells cameras, during the preview. “She’s been supportive of me leaving and me moving. And leaving the family and changing the whole dynamic of the family.”

Christine is leaving,” Janelle says in a confessional spot, tearing up. “I’m good until I think about it.”

She adds — “It’s not the end. It’s just the end of a chapter. A big, big chapter. Then end of the book maybe. All of a sudden, my whole world looks different.”
