Janelle and Kody Brown Clash Over Living In Christine’s Old House

Tensions boil over between Kody Brown and his second wife, Janelle, in the upcoming episode of Sister Wives. Kody tries to convince Janelle to scoop up Christine’s old house after her buyer falls through, but Janelle shuts him down in a sneak peek at the new episode.  

Viewers know that the show has featured Janelle living in an RV amid an effort to build her home on the family property, Coyote Pass. 

“I want a house,” Janelle tells Kody, in the preview. “I’m ready to be settled in my own house.”

“Yeah, but we’re a year from that, even if we start building right away,” Kody points out, about her house-building plan. 

Janelle reiterates her main priority: “I can’t afford both house mortgages. I can’t buy this house and in any shape or form, finance another house, even if it’s small. I just can’t.” 

The mom of six clarifies that not only can she not afford a downpayment on Christine’s old place, she just does not want the house.

“I want to be out on the property,” she says. “That’s the whole reason I’ve been doing everything I’ve been doing.”

Kody notes that Janelle “lacks creativity” and adds that she’s landed in her predicament because she purchased the RV without his seeking his opinion. 

“If Janelle wouldn’t have bought the RV, she could have been able to afford the mortgage on Christine’s house,” he says. 

Janelle, who appears frustrated by Kody’s attitude, shoots him down when he tells her, “we can do both.”

Janelle and Kody’s relationship has been in a seemingly downward spiral since Kody’s strict COVID protocols divided the family. Janelle supported Christine’s decision to leave the spiritual marriage, which has also strained the relationship.   

Christine, 50, and Kody, 53, announced their breakup in November 2021. The ex-couple’s daughter, Gwendlyn, gave an update on her mom during a recent appearance on a pal’s TikTok Livestream. The 21-year-old hinted that Janelle was no longer part of the picture.  

Gwen replied “Yes, I think,” when a fan asked if only Meri and Robyn remained in the plural marriage.

A source told The Sun earlier this month that the Kody’s ex was “100 percent” the person who “forced” Janelle to leave the Sister Wives patriarch. 

“Janelle had no real reason to leave until Christine pointed it out to her,” the insider claimed.

The outlet later reported that Janelle and Christine were in talks for a new spinoff series, that will purportedly feature the women living apart from Kody.

“It would be more about female empowerment like ‘Life After Polygamy.’ That’s the direction they’re going in,” the insider revealed. 

“Separate lives from Kody and Robyn and life at home with their kids,” the tipster added. “They’re trying to build a financial empire together.”

Janelle has received praise from fans in recent weeks, for standing beside Christine during her televised exit from the Brown family. Meri and Robyn opposed Christine’s decision, but Janelle has remained a steadfast friend throughout the emotional ordeal.
