Wendy Williams Struggles To Walk and Requires Assistance After Rehab Stint
Wendy Williams was spotted in New York struggling to walk as she left her apartment.
Williams, 58, was photographed leaving her apartment as she went to a photo shoot for her upcoming podcast show. She was holding onto a friend as she moved to maintain her balance. The former talk show host wore a long Chanel coat and black jumpsuit as she shakily made her way to the car.
Wendy seemed to be in good spirits as she held on to a pricey Hermès Birkin 35 bag. The TV personality was spotted outside amid her feud with her son, Kevin Hunter Jr. When she was asked if she has talked to her son lately, Wendy replied, “Yes, of course!”
In August, Wendy checked herself into a rehab facility in Malibu, California to deal with her alcohol addiction issues. An insider said about Williams’ time in rehab, “Alcohol has been a real struggle for her the past several years. She is battling severe alcohol abuse mixed with serious health issues.”
The U.S. Sun previously reported that since Wendy left rehab, she hasn’t been on speaking terms with her son. A source close to the family said, “Wendy has not reached out to her son since she left the rehab. While she was in treatment, they were talking, but the minute she got out, the communication stopped.”
The source said that Kevin Jr. has been doing his best to stay focused on his last year of school amid all the challenges his mother has been facing.
“Kevin has been through hell this year with everything going on with his mom. It breaks his heart that things seemed to be going well while she was in rehab, but as soon as she got her freedom, she hasn’t reached out to him since.”
The mother and son’s relationship had been strained even before she entered rehab. A year ago, Kevin Jr asked Wendy to get help or he would be out of her life. This past summer, Wendy’s brother had said Kevin tried to see his mother but he was refused at the door.
Tommy Williams said during a Facebook Live session that Kevin Jr. had flown from Florida to New York to surprise his mother for her 58th birthday, but she refused to let him into her penthouse apartment.
“Her son is up there to spend what could be monumental time with his mother, that is if she opens the door. She is not our celebrity. She’s not the family celebrity. She’s a member and she has her son out there like he’s the paparazzi.”
