RHOP’s Chris Bassett Talks Suing Gizelle Bryant For Defamation

Real Housewives of Potomac husband, Chris Bassett, said he has no plans to sue Gizelle Bryant for the allegations she made this season. 

During this season of The Real Housewives of Potomac, a few of the ladies accused Candiace Dillard’s husband of being inappropriate towards them. Ashley Darby claimed Chris sent her a late-night DM while she was out partying. Mia Thorton accused the chef of staring at her during Karen Huger’s Spring Bling Event, but producers showed otherwise. And Gizelle accused Chris of making her uncomfortable when he asked to speak to her privately in her hotel room during last season’s reunion. 

Chris addressed the allegations during an Instagram Live session. He was grateful that fans didn’t believe Gizelle’s accusations about him and said that his co-star might be traumatized because of her experience being married to Jamal Bryant. “Gizelle has no problem finding a man. It’s whether or not she doesn’t want one,” Chris said. “I feel like a lot of what she said that made her uncomfortable is because of the sh*t her ex-husband did to her. And I can understand that. I get that. Just tell me, just tell me. Because if you would have told me that, I would have said I totally get it. I understand. That’s fine.”

He also shut down speculations from fans that the mother of three wants him. “Does Gizelle want me? In no way, shape or form do I think Gizelle wants anything to do with me,” he replied. When fans in the Live asked if Chris was planning to sue Bryant, he said he wasn’t the type to do that even though her accusations hurt him. When he and Candiace first joined The Real Housewives of Potomac, Gizelle was so welcoming that he thought she was a close friend to him and his wife. “Can I sue them for defamation? I’m not suing, I’m not a litigious person,” Chris added. He continued, “I’m not gonna sue anybody. Am I angry, am I upset about it? I am…”

Gizelle Bryant spoke on her allegations against Chris when she appeared on Carlos King’s podcast show, Reality With The King. When Carlos asked Gizelle what exactly made her uncomfortable with Chris, she explained, “I have never said this man lured me. I’ve never said he preyed on me.” Gizelle continued, “I’ve never said that I was accusing him of sexual assault, even though the other side is talking real crazy.”
