Andy Cohen Weighs In On Bethenny Frankel’s ‘Rewives’ Podcast

Andy Cohen was surprised but pleased to learn that Bethenny Frankel had launched a new “Real Housewives” podcast. Bethenny, who was an original Real Housewives of New York cast member, recently announced the launch of Rewives, despite being one of the show’s harshest critics.

Bethenny appeared for the first three seasons of the Bravo series, then returned for Seasons 7-11 before exiting for good, in 2019.

Andy admitted that Bethenny’s new project took him by surprise, but clarified to Page Six that he was all for it.

“I was a little surprised,” the Bravo boss told the outlet at the Humane Society gala last week, “but again I was like, ‘Oh, this is good, good for you.’ The more ‘Housewives’ podcasts the better.”

Bethenny’s former co-stars have not been as enthusiastic about the Skinnygirl mogul’s latest venture. Luann de Lesseps weighed in on the project, accusing her former cast mate of “sh–ting on the show.”

“It’s pretty sad and pathetic,” Luann said, earlier this month, on “Everything Iconic.”

The Bravo veteran added—“She has to resort to ‘Housewives’ because of all her failed pivots since the ‘Housewives.’ It’s a pretty desperate scenario.”

Carole Radziwill also took aim at Bethenny’s new show, alleging that she had built her brand “trashing” past co-stars.

“Oh lordy…how original,” Carole tweeted, in response to a fan asking for her thoughts on her ex bestie’s new podcast.

“But she did build her brand by trashing& mocking women specifically the HWs & Bethenny always returns to what she does best. I mean right out the gate she trash talks the other HW podcasts. Lol. Good luck to her. Somethings will never change,” Carole wrote.

Carole, who was once close friends with Bethenny, appeared on the show from 2012-2018. The pair’s friendship crashed and burned during the writer’s final RHONY season.

Bethenny took to her Instagram Story to explain her motives for doing the show, in response to the negative feedback.

“For those of you who don’t understand why I did it, because I get that I walked away, I didn’t want to be a part of it, it wasn’t what I thought i should be doing at my life, and I wasn’t proud of it,” she said.

“This is my perspective, my story, my show, my experience,” she said, adding “versus a situation where we didn’t control the editing, and we didn’t control the process, and we didn’t control who we surrounded ourselves with, and the trips we went on, we weren’t in charge.”

Andy also hinted that Jill Zarin, Kelly Bensimon, Dorinda Medley, Luann de Lesseps, and Sonja Morgan were on the shortlist for the new RHONY “Legacy” spinoff series. Ramona Singer confirmed that she would not be a part of the new show, which will feature veteran NYC “Housewives.”

“I do not want to do the show any longer,” she told Page Six. “It’s not for me at this time.”

However, insiders told the outlet that Ramona was not invited to return.
