Garcelle Beauvais Says Andy Cohen’s Apology ‘Meant A Lot’ After ‘RHOBH’ Reunion!
Garcelle Beauvais gave kudos to Andy Cohen for reaching out after he casually dismissed Lisa Rinna’s admission that she was the one who trashed the Real Housewives of Beverly Hills star’s memoir, “Love Me As I Am” during the Season 12 reunion.
“We spoke. Absolutely. He called me before he put out the apology and, you know, he’s great,” the 55-year-old Bravo star said.
“There were a lot of things that were missed during the reunion and it was really sad and unfortunate, but, I like Andy and I think the fact that he stood up and said something meant a lot,” Garcelle added.
The actress spoke out a week after Andy publicly apologized for being insensitive about the issue during the recently aired RHOBH reunion series.
Andy teased Rinna about her lax recycling habits during the conversation, asking “Do you recycle?”
He added—“You took a lot of s–t, Erika, for her lack of recycling.”
“She got so much s–t about [not] recycling. That’s when I really felt bad,” Rinna laughed, after confirming that she had pitched Garcelle’s penned personal story in the trash.
Fans were led to believe that it was Erika Jayne who ditched the read but Rinna copped to the diss, explaining that Erika had only uploaded the video to her own Instagram Story.
Fans ripped into the Bravo boss for joking around with Rinna and Erika while ignoring Garcelle’s obviously upset.
Andy later addressed the complaints by issuing an apology on his SiriusXM show, Radio Andy.
He explained—“Everybody’s been talking about the Beverly Hills reunion. And I just want to say, I’ve been listening to everyone’s feedback about the reunion, and I really need to sincerely apologize, not only for diverting the topic but for not returning — even worse — to the serious conversation that was at hand.”
Andy noted that he had “deep admiration” for Garcelle and admitted that he should have been more “in tune” with how she felt at the time.
“She and I had a really good, productive conversation last Thursday, and I should have been more in tune with her feelings,” the host said.
He concluded—“So, I just wanted to say that because I’ve been logging in and I get it.”
Rinna confirmed that her action was due to the book’s mention of her daughter, Amelia Gray Hamlin’s eating disorder. Garcelle explained that they took care of the issue with a second edition, printed without reference to the model’s body image problems.
“Garcelle and I had a handshake agreement the kids were off limits,” Rinna told the group. “And so, about a year and a half later, she put my daughter Amelia in her book in not a positive light, in a negative light. And that’s what I did.”
