‘I Am Shauna Rae’ Star Exposes Creeps Who Try To Date Her!
Shauna Rae is opening up about her dating life ahead of season 2 of her show, I Am Shauna Rae.
Shauna, 23, said during the premiere episode of her show that it hasn’t been easy dating as a 20-something because people don’t believe she is an adult. Rae told The New York Post that she knows she looks like an 8-year-old on the outside. “But I think if you take the time to look at the details in my face, in my hands, the maturity in my body — and I think if you take the time to actually talk to me — you really understand that I’m a 23-year-old,” she said. Rae added that she has been able to spot the creeps from the good guys who are interested in her for the wrong reasons.
“I’ve just developed the ability to spot someone who may not have the best intentions because they give themselves away,” The TLC star noted. Rae said their questions are mostly targeted toward her body. “They’re learning about me like I’m a specimen in a lab.” In Season 2 of I Am Shauna Rae, she goes on a date with volunteer firefighter, Thomas, 20. She finds the date a breath of fresh air since he didn’t make her feel like she had to explain herself the entire time. Shauna was born with brain cancer and had to undergo chemotherapy as a child. The treatment affected her pituitary gland which caused pituitary dwarfism. The TLC star has been in full remission since then but stands at 3 feet 10 and weighs 50 pounds.
The I Am Shauna star also detailed an encounter she had where people didn’t believe she wasn’t a child. “’I’ve had multiple issues with people not believing me when I told them my age. One thing that happened recently was I went to a [lab] to get my blood taken … I was trying to leave, but some employee wouldn’t allow me to, because they thought I was a child leaving without a parent.”
Rae offered to show them her ID and also pointed out her piercings and tattoos, but they didn’t believe her. “They all denied the fact that I was an adult, and they would not let me leave the property without an adult to take me home,” she said. “It got to the point where I had to leave when they weren’t looking. It was so extreme.”
