‘RHOP’ RECAP: Ashley Stresses As News of Her Divorce Leaks to the Press!
Welcome back to a brand-new episode of The Real Housewives of Potomac! We begin with Dr. Wendy Osefo, Eddie Osefo, and their kids as they play at the local park. Taking a break and cheering the boys on, Eddie asks Wendy how she’s doing, and Wendy uses this time to approach the Nigerian restaurant. Eddie made it clear that Peter Thomas is Wendy’s friend and Wendy bypassed that issue to explain her and Peter’s vision. Wendy tells Eddie that she needs to put up $300,000, and Eddie’s happy Wendy’s finally met her limit. Wendy’s tired, yet she continues investing in new businesses that tear her away from her family. Wendy explains that she only knows to go after opportunities, and Eddie wonders at what cost.
Wendy continues trying to talk Eddie into her ideas and explains what happened at Ashley Darby’s dance class. Wendy explained how messy things got around the situation with Mia Thornton and her argument with Robyn Dixon. Wendy makes it seem like Robyn came after her for no reason but was correct in Robyn not inviting her kids to the family fun day. Meanwhile, Robyn and her boys are practicing outside as Juan Dixon watches the kids run in a sack. Robyn wanted to have a family fun day with everyone and doesn’t feel bad about not inviting Wendy. Carter clowns Juan about being a bench player and now Juan is out to win this sack race. Juan somehow wins and Robyn comes in dead last. Once everyone catches their breath, Robyn talks with Juan about the upcoming family fun day and what happened during the dance class. Robyn feels that it’s best Wendy’s not at the family fun day, but, instead, offered for Candiace Dillard to bring Wendy’s kids to Family Fun Day.
Juan likes the idea, but we all know this idea wasn’t fully thought out. Wendy admits to Eddie that it hurt her feelings, and Wendy thinks the dance class went left quickly. Robyn tells Juan about the arguments and how Candiace walked away crying. Robyn recently explained the issue to Juan about Chris Bassett sending Ashley a message via Instagram, and at the same time, Wendy’s explaining the issue Gizelle Bryant has with Chris. Whew! Robyn asks Juan does he think Chris should say something to Gizelle and Juan thinks he should. However, Eddie thinks the girls are coming after Chris, and I second that thought.
Robyn calls Candiace to ask her to talk to Wendy about playing auntie for the day. Although Candiace is excited, she knows Wendy won’t be down with her kids going somewhere she wasn’t invited to. These women are petty! Later at Karen Huger’s house, she’s cleaning out the fridge as Rayvin Huger calls to check in on her mama. Karen explains that she recently went to the doctor and realized that she has digestive issues caused by eating chicken. Rayvin shares that she’s also on a health kick but doesn’t own a pan to cook with. Karen’s super proud of Rayvin and it’s nice to see the two get healthy together. Karen tells Rayvin about Ray’s disdain for Karen’s breast lift and that Ray’s concern is focused on what Rayvin may think. Rayvin’s taken aback and Karen knows she’s a good mother.
Karen wraps up by telling Rayvin that she misses her and can’t wait to see her. Ashley’s at home cleaning up the kids’ toys when there’s a knock on the door. It’s Ashley’s publicist and her son. Ashley explains that her publicist has been with her for a long time and Ashley claims her as a friend. Ashley tells Althea about transitioning with Michael Darby and Ashley continues claiming to take things day by day. Ashley wants to release a statement so Michael can live his life, and I’m wondering why Ashley continues to protect that man. Ashley reads Althea the statement she and Michael made, and we get a recap of their union. Althea likes the statement but wants Ashley to be realistic about the trolls to come. Althea wants the statement to be released before Mother’s Day, and Ashley agrees.
The next day, Robyn and the boys set up Family Fun Day and seem excited for what’s to come. Robyn doesn’t feel bad extending the invite to Wendy’s kids and Gizelle’s on her way with her daughter, Grace. Mia, Gordon, and their kids are on their way and the kids are in awe of the Mormon church. Mia begins explaining that she’s had positive women in her life, just not with her mother. Kind of a random conversation but Mia continues explaining addiction to Gordon as the kids listen on. Mia wants to be more understanding of her mother’s trauma and appreciates her aunt for reframing her way of thinking. Mia begins talking about Jacqueline Blake and how Robyn met Jacqueline recently. Gordon asks Mia about her relationship with Candiace and Mia admits that she isn’t in a place to fix things with Candiace.
Mia’s kids meet Robyn and her boys as Mia questions Robyn’s choice of venue. Mia calls Robyn “regular” in her confessional and claims that she didn’t expect a lot from Robyn. Gizelle and Grace arrive as Robyn introduces her sister-in-law to Mia. Mia asks whether Juan will be there and Robyn said Juan had a root canal and decided to sit this one out. Gizelle greets everyone and Mia wonders where the trophies are. The kids will have bragging rights but no gold for Robyn’s event. Karen arrives looking skittish as Jacqueline and her family arrive. Jacqueline’s ex is also there, and we get the down low on Jacqueline’s strange situation. Robyn reads the text from Candiace where Wendy declined to send her kids to Robyn’s event.
Robyn instructs the kids to break off into two teams as she explains that Ashley is running late and that Wendy wasn’t invited. Karen speaks up and tells Robyn that’s not okay and thinks Robyn should’ve been the bigger person. Karen makes everyone laugh by explaining that she deserves a sick day without the ladies acting up. The ladies begin picking teams as Gizelle shades Robyn about her lousy event. Charrisse Jackson-Jordan made it and immediately Karen begins coughing and planning her escape. Karen switches teams as she puts on a mask and the first sack race begins. Everyone participates as Gizelle laughs at Mia’s attempt at the race. Karen begins coughing and tells Mia she has a respiratory infection.
The ladies tell Karen to sit down, but instead, Karen asks Gordon to walk her to the car. Gizelle asks Charrisse if she and Karen were able to talk and Robyn blasts Karen by admitting that Karen’s sickness was to get away from Charrisse. The group laughs as Gizelle recaps the conversation between herself and Karen. Charrisse claims to have that effect on people nowadays and Gizelle continues shading Robyn’s event. The three-legged race begins, and of course, Gizelle opts to cheat in order to win. Candiace arrives as everyone takes a break and Candace’s energy is low as she ignores Gizelle’s greeting. Robyn hugs Candiace as she instructs everyone that it’s time for tug of war. Charrisse asks Candiace how she’s doing, and Candiace thinks people are saying anything for attention.
Gizelle’s team wins the tug of war as Mia gets up from the benches to relay the tea. The group participates in Limbo as Ashley and her kids arrive. Ashley falls while doing the limbo and it makes her kids cry, lol. Ashley talks to Gizelle about continuing to get outbid on houses and Mia begins questioning Ashley about why she and Michael are separating. Ashley tells Mia and Charrisse that Michael got a vasectomy today and that Michael thinks Ashley’s trying to get pregnant on him. In Ashley’s confessional, she admits to being sad that she’s unable to have any more children with Michael. Mia asks Michael whether Michael did anything to Ashley, and Jacqueline sticks her nose in. Ashley then admits that Michael wanted to continue doing threesomes, but she didn’t.
Jacqueline then explains that she’s sexually open and that she and her ex went through the same thing. Thankfully, Robyn interrupts and everyone hugs each other goodbye as Candiace gets emotional with Ashley explaining her failed attempt at IVF. Ashley tells Candiace that she put some baby dust on Candiace and inserted her into Ashley’s affirmation notebook. Ashley compliments Candiace on her upcoming motherhood journey as Candiace jokes with Dean.
The next day, Ashley’s phone is blowing up as news breaks of her and Michael’s separation. Ashley has no idea who could’ve leaked the information and my bet is on Michael Darby himself. Ashley calls her publicist and is stressed by all the chaos. Ashley vents over the phone and thinks she’s going to look bad since the news didn’t come from her. Ashley wanted to be the one ahead of the story and now has to readjust. Ashley admits that she can’t get ahold of Michael and neither can her publicist. The press is demonizing Michael, and of course, Ashley wants to continue protecting a man that never protected her. Ashley’s publicist wonders if Ashley will consider putting out a statement without talking to Michael. Ashley doesn’t know what to do but ultimately decides to release her own statement to save herself. Be sure to come back next week to see what else happens on The Real Housewives of Potomac!
